Instead this case has a "screen protector" feature on this model which refers to two components of the case. -First it refers to the main hard shell of the case which has a raised, rigid border (bezel) that snaps onto the iPad. This raises the edges high above the glass, protecting the screen from direct contact if the iPad is dropped flat on its face. -The case includes a detachable cover (the multi-position stand) that snaps over the iPad's screen when not in use. It's an Otterbox Defender!
Generally, I have Otterbox Defenders on all of my tech gear, my iPad is no exception. Normally my Otterbox cases would get a five star review, but there are a couple small annoyances worth noting. Firrst off the pencil slot location is on the backer and not the customary spot next to the screen. For me I don't ever use or even own a pencil so not a big deal for me, but may be important to others. Secondly, due to the nature of having to have vents on both the top and the bottom due to ports and other things, when holding in the landscape orientation you can feel the plastic on the two sides pulling slightly away from the edge of the screen. Again, not a huge thing, kind of a non issue, but I did notice it so felt it was worth noting. Overall still an outstanding case for the iPad!

Cheap Quality
It does appear to protect the iPad sufficiently, but the stand broke within two weeks of purchase. So now we have to buy another case anyways. Definitely won't be an Otterbox.

New product not as expected
Very disappointed in the new otterbox defender. It is advertised as having a built in screen protector that protects from drops. It no longer has the screen protector that the old otterboxes had that helped keep the screen scratch free and the device clean from debris. Now my new iPad has a space on the screen where it is not protected. The lid for the case also has a section that further exposes the screen to scratches and debris. I went on the otterbox website and I believe you now need to purchase a screen protector that is compatible with the otterbox defender to have the 3 layers of protection they used to offer in one case. I am really considering returning the otterbox and looking into another product that offers similar/better protection for my device.

For Otterbox, not living up
Like: Overall sense of protection in a drop. Dislike: No cover over the screen when not in use. Rear shell covers rear lenses, and so rear shell must be entirely snapped away entirely from the front shell (all four corners) to use rear camera. Easel stand integrated in the rear shell has bad fitment and is prone to jamming, especially upon stowing it; I fear breaking it every time, Overall, feels bulky. I respect, OtterBox phone cases but this iPad A16 case is a loser. Ford Pinto bad, It’s going back.

Overpriced
The case itself is decent quality, but the part that you can use to prop it up has to be put on and off each time, and covers the camera when in use. It’s a pain to use and keep up with, so we just use the case itself- and for the price that is a waste. You can get something similar for much less. Overall- not a good setup.

I use my iPad on the job site to take progress pictures. I carry it with a lanyard, and you have to take it out of the case , off the lanyard to take photos. There is no camera port on the hard case..

Deceptive business practice
Criminal bait and switch. There is NO SCREEN PROTECTOR even though video shows installation with a screen protector on the product. OtterBox requires you to purchase separately. Check your state’s civil statutes on the consumer protection act. Sue otterbox in small claims court. This is a deceptive business practice and a clear bait and switch. Target should drop this product immediately.
