Description
This is the original Oatmilk in an ambient package so you can store it at room temp. It's a great go-to dairy free milk for just about everything and provides the kind of oatsome deliciousness that would make other drinks exceptionally jealous. But since it's made of liquid oats and liquid oats are incredibly humble, well then, jealousy is not an issue. When should you use it? Whenever you'd use old school milk from cows, chilled in a glass, on your cereal, in your smoothies, in all your cooking and baking, in exactly the same amounts.

Q: The nutritional label says 7g added sugar, but sugar is not listed in the ingredients. How is this explained?
submitted by Ginalinda - 4 months ago
A: Our US oatmilks (aside from our flavored ones like Chocolate) don’t contain any added sweeteners like sugar, which is why they’re not listed as an ingredient.
The sugar referenced on the nutrition label is produced during our enzymatic production process. Basically, we use natural enzymes to liquify our oats, which enables us to create a really creamy product that retains a lot of the nutrition from the original oat (like protein, unsaturated fats, fibers, and carbs). As part of this process, the enzymes break the starches in our oats down into smaller components, including simple sugar like maltose.
Now, you might be asking, but why does it say "added sugar?" Well, the FDA guidance on sugar labeling provides that any sugar created during a product’s production process should be categorized as 'added.' So that's why it's listed as 'added sugar' on our nutrition labels. The amount of sugar in a serving of our unflavored oatmilk is on par with or less than the amount in a glass of cow's milk.

Q: What is the difference between the shelf stable regular oat milk versus the “barista” oat milk?
submitted by Feet Saver - 10 months ago
A: Oatly’s Barista Edition Oatmilk was created specifically for foaming in espresso and coffee drinks. The Original Oatmilk has a slightly lower fat content and is a lighter option that’s great for sipping or in cereal etc. No preservatives are added to our recipes so all Oatly cartons should be refrigerated and used within 7 days after they have been opened.

Does the job
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shelf stable is handy, but not my go to because there are too many ingredients. So I would only get it to have it for a just in case time. I don’t love oat milk needing oil in it.

Great for coffee
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I enjoyed this as a creamer for my coffee and it was good. There was no separation and was creamy for my coffee. My only issue and the reason why I took off a star was that the second ingredient is oil.

Tastes great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband has a lactose intolerance so I like to have non dairy milk on hand. I love how long this lasts so I can keep it in the pantry until I need it. It also has a great flavor and tastes creamy and sweet in coffee.

Good milk
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had Oatly products in the past and have enjoyed them. I like the purpose of the shelfstable milk, however, I do feel like there is a slight taste gap compared to the refrigerated ones.

Great oatmilk
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great oatmilk. Decent in coffee. A little too creamy over cereal but otherwise worked well with cereal. Appreciate that it's shelf stable and stays fresh for a long time after opening.

Not great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This had a really strange taste to it. I have bought pulled oat, milks and shelf, stable oat milk. This was by far one of the most disgusting shelf stable oat milks I have ever tried. I would not purchase.

Used in coffee as creamer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Oatley oat milk as a substitute for cream in my morning coffee. It added a creamy texture, good mouth feel, and nice taste. Being dairy free is a plus as I am lactose intolerant.

Classic Oatmilk
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is a classic oat milk with the added convenience of shelf stability. It tasted very similar to other oatly products I have tried. It paired great with my coffees and matchas!
