A: Hello DaveC. Here's exactly how it works when used as separate vertical units: You only need to connect ONE of the two speaker units (usually the main or "master" unit) to your TV. Use the included HDMI (ARC), Optical, or AUX cable for this connection. Wireless Link Between Speakers: Once you detach the two units, they connect to each other wirelessly. The master unit receives the audio signal from your TV and transmits it wirelessly to the second speaker. So in short: Only one cable to the TV, wireless stereo between speakers. This design gives you the flexibility of separate left/right speakers without the clutter of multiple TV connections.

Set up was very easy: you have several options including ARC (which I used), Bluetooth, optical, and Aux. The most immediate improvement was that I could understand speech in shows and movies a lot better. Still need to tweak settings, but I am satisfied, especially at this price point.

The sound bar significantly improves the sound coming from the TV. Plus there are two features that make this sound bar a bargain. First, the sound bar is easy to install. Secondly, the remote buttons do exactly what you expect them to do, volume up, mute, power down, etc. I was really impressed at the sound improvement with this sound bar. It improves the room sound.
