I bought 8 6" cables for use in a patch panel -> router setup, where the two face each other, requiring a short, straight run. Unfortunately only 4 of the 8 could be coaxed to have the same rj45 orientation, and all 8 were of varying sizes, with at least a 1" variance. Given the stiffness of these cables it's essentially impossible to use them for my purpose.

I order a 50' length cable so that I can make the second bedroom into an office. The cable works perfectly and it is used as an extension from our cable modem.

Monoprice carries what I see as some if not the best STP patch cables. Quality build. I know when I reach for a replacement cable or a new run, that it will work!

It's complete overkill for what I need. I bought a dozen or so of different lengths (3ft up to 100ft for the cross house run) and colors for my home network, all good quality with no duds. I could have gone cheaper for the shorter cables, but a little extra shielding never hurts.

Works fine for POE and even 10G - much smaller - excellent for removing congested cable bundles .
