About the Author
Dwight Golann is Research Professor of Law at Suffolk University in Bos-ton, where he teaches mediation and negotiation. Professor Golann has mediated hundreds of cases in a wide variety of subject areas. He is a member of the Panel of the International Mediation Institute and Senior Mediator at Resolutions LLC in Boston. Professor Golann has trained lawyers and judges in mediation skills for the American Bar Association, the U.S. Department of Justice, the European Union, JAMS, the Federal Judicial Center, state and federal courts, and mediation centers on five continents. He has been a visiting professor at several law schools and taught in the Program of Instruction for Lawyers at Harvard Law School. In recognition of his work in dispute resolution, Professor Golann has been named an Honorary Member of the International Academy of Mediators, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Ameri-can College of Civil Trial Mediators. He is the author of a leading book on mediation advocacy, Sharing a Mediator's Powers, and co-author of law school texts. Professor Golann was formerly a civil litigator. He also served as Chief of the Trial Division of the Attorney General of Massachusetts, where he directed the defense of all cases brought against state agencies and offi-cials and tried and argued cases at every level of the court system, from local juries to the Supreme Court. He is a graduate of Amherst College and Harvard Law School.
