How are you supposed to sharpen this? It’s a plastic pencil and doesn’t sharpen. Trying to sharpen thick plastic to get to the makeup is ridiculous. So I only got to use the tip and that’s it. Couldn’t get the rest out.

It's a common misconception that our sharpenable gel pencils, which have a plastic-like casing, cannot be sharpened. Rest assured, this eyeliner is indeed designed to be sharpened, much like a traditional wooden pencil. For the best results, we recommend using a cosmetic sharpener, especially one designed for softer, gel-based formulas, or a high-quality sharpener with a very sharp blade. Sometimes, a regular pencil sharpener can struggle with the material if it's not sharp enough. A gentle, twisting motion should reveal more of the product without damaging the pencil. If you find the tip breaking, try placing the eyeliner in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes before sharpening; this can firm up the gel and make for a cleaner sharpen. We want you to be able to enjoy every bit of your favorite Maybelline product!

Put it on and didn’t feel weird till the 3rd hour of me wearing iy but i it progressively got worse took it off immediately when i got home the 5th hour after wear eyes were red and swollen. Then i couldn’t sleep the entire night because my eyes were throbbing and swollen but got worse when i woke up my eyes were crusted shut and red.

Tattoo is the right name for it
Bought to use on the forehead and cheeks for Halloween. It took 20 minutes of scrubbing and using an abrasive to remove. Then rubbing with a wash cloth. This cannot be acceptable for eyelids!

recent product updates made it not worth the money
I love this product but my last two times buying it the pencil part had holes throughout meaning when I sharpened it, the integrity was compromised and just kept cracking off. idk what kind of money saving update they tried but it has made the quality faulty. its a shame because this liner stays so so well.

Not worth it
Ngl, this liner sucks. You have to sharpen it EVERY time, because unless it's "fresh," it's hard to apply. That means you get very little use out of it for a "pricier" product. I won't be purchasing it again.

You can sharpen it but you have to be careful and not go ham with it. It does last but not for a long time. I would give it maybe 2 hrs and it will start disappearing. It is easy to apply.

"Warning: This Eyeliner is Impossible to Sharpen"
This eyeliner is nearly impossible to sharpen properly. It keeps breaking or getting stuck. I ended up wasting so much product just trying to get a usable tip. To make things worse, it wears down fast because of having to sharpen it constantly. Even when I did manage to get a point it feels pinchy and uncomfortable to apply. Overall, this eyeliner was a total waste of money.

This eyeliner glides on well and seems to stay on well. Returned to get a different color, the black color is too dark for me. Prefer a brown/black color.

Waste of time and money
I wasted my money on this product. Packaging claims it’s sharpenable, but I’ve wasted a third of the pencil trying to sharpen it and still have been unsuccessful. Throwing it away.

Choose something else due to difficult to sharpen
I purchased the Aurora Flip color, which I love...however... this pencil is hard to sharpen . If you use it, the gel does last a long time. But it seems to dry out somewhat in the pencil. I would NOT purchase another one. In general,I have loved and depended on Maybelline over the years, but this design is a dud,imo.
