Q: Is it compatible with a MacBook?

A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Logitech Wireless Mouse M317 Mouse. The Logitech M317 is technically compatible with a MacBook, but there is a catch regarding the physical connection. Unlike many modern mice, the M317 does not have Bluetooth. It relies entirely on a small USB-A "Nano" receiver (the little plug that stays in your computer). The "Port" Problem Older MacBooks: If your MacBook has the rectangular USB-A ports, you can simply plug the receiver in, and it will work instantly (Plug & Play). Modern MacBooks (Air/Pro): Most MacBooks made after 2016 only have small, oval USB-C ports. Because the M317 receiver is the older rectangular type, it will not fit directly into your laptop. How to make it work: If you have a newer MacBook, you will need a USB-C to USB-A adapter (often called a "dongle"). You plug the mouse receiver into the adapter, and the adapter into your MacBook. Beware
This is the second mouse I have gotten by Logitech and it is worthless almost. The battery, for whatever reason in both does not stay in play. Therefore, I have to take the back off to push (gently) down for the battery to connect. Not sure what the issue is being that it has been 2 of them but in search of a different brand.

Cute and functional
Great little mouse, fun patterns too. Own several and been using them for years, heavy computing activity, no gaming. Just change battery when it starts skipping, maybe 1x every couple years.

It's ok
This mouse is super pretty (got the golden garden design), and might be ok for light use, but it's definitely not for everyday or gaming. After a couple months of use the right mouse button now constantly double clicks when I have only clicked once, and won't hold when I drag and hold. This keeps happening with logitech mice that I've gotten the last couple years, so I think quality in general has just gone down and I need to try a different company. Pretty sad because logitech used to always be my go-to when I needed a new mouse.
