So much fun until...
The build is a really fun one with a lot of little hidden bits so far. The details are crazy. But... I'd love to be able to finish this build. In bag 2, I was missing a piece, but luckily it was a really common piece and I had a spare from another set. Everything was going great until bag 8... missing another piece. And this one is not only integral to the structure, but it's one I definitely don't have a spare of. I've put in a request for a replacement brick, but they are apparently really backed up, because it's been almost 3 months since they said it was ready to ship. I'm just really hoping the 9 bags I have left to go don't have anything missing, or I'll have to wait even longer. I've done about a dozen builds in 2025 so far, from poly-bags to over 1300 piece builds, and this is the first with missing pieces. It's the biggest and most expensive one, so I am really bummed about it.

Beautifully Recreated Castle
Himeji Castle has been beautifully recreated in Lego form. Granted I've never actually been to said castle, let alone Japan at all, but if anything this build certainly inspired me to want to go! The build experience wasn't too bad besides maybe a confusing step or two.. but the end result was well worth it. I can see myself walking about the castle itself and there's a few good spots to place your minifigs on! My only criticism: I would've liked to have replaced every tree into cherry blossoms since I'm such a sucker for them. In total the build took me about 5 hours or so.

Historic Build!
I visited the Himeji Castle this summer. It was raining profusely but that didn’t stop how majestic the experience was for me. Building the set after seeing it in person was truly special. The small details of including the purple alter and other significant historical relics was really cool. Great set.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE
I really enjoyed the building experience. I love how lego makes the builds so detailed and accurate. This set took me about 5 hours and 50 minutes and i stayed up until 3AM building it. I had a little bit of back pain throughout the build but other than that the experience was stellar. 4.8 stars!

a beautiful rendition
what i love most about this design is the landscaping around the central castle, featuring narrow walkways and greenery that elegantly frames the castle, making it feel like a 'living' scene rather than just a model of the castle itself. as one reviewer pointed out, the orientation of the roof on the back right turret is off by 90° but this can be easily corrected by adjusting the top tiles.

Terrible build
I’ve been building this for a few days now and Every-time I build it, it starts to crumble in my hands, because of the base of the structure keeps falling apart or popping off. I try and build and it crumbles I give it a few days and it crumbles again.

beyond awful support
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The set is pretty fun to build when it it’s crumbling in your hand cause the contraption of makeshift baseplates to support this thing is beyond abysmal. Had this set straight fall apart in my hand multiple times while building the blocks don’t even click into each other properly

Amazing
My wife and I visited Hemiji last April and since then I knew I had to get this set. It’s incredible the level of detail in this set and it’s awesome being able to retrace our steps and see some of the exact paths we walked.
