About the Author
Libraries have always been Susan Lendroth's second home, so coming to work at Central Library a decade ago felt like docking with the mother ship! L is for Librarian: The ABCs of Los Angeles Central Library is her tenth picture book, joining titles that include Here We Go Digging for Dinosaur Bones and Hey Ho, to Mars We'll Go! Besides writing for children, she has a penchant for historic mysteries, ginger cats, and taking photos of bugs on flowers.
Originally from New Mexico, Alexander Vidal studied cultural anthropology, and spent time living in Africa and Asia before starting his career in illustration. Travel, exploration, and a love for animals and wild spaces continue to drive the themes of his work. He is visually inspired by folk art, Midcentury design and California Modernism. A graduate of ArtCenter College of Design, his clients have included The California Academy of Sciences, The Monterey Bay Aquarium, The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, Chronicle Books, Swatch, and Audubon.
