Q: What is the diameter of the waffle when it's done?

A: It’s the size of my hand at least 6 to 6.5 inches sorry I don’t have a ruler but about that size I’d say maybe even 7 inches but more than likely 6.5. And it makes the waffles perfect texture slightly crispy on outside and super fluffy on inside.

You need the "flip" feature for crispy waffles.
Ok....my wife likes crispy thick waffles which our black and decker that also "flipped" did. I bought and returned two more expensive waffle makers as the waffles were "limp." This one you put 3/4 cup of batter wait ten seconds and flip, 3:30 min later you have a perfect crispy waffle. I got it super cheap with some target circle promos, if it lasts 2 years I'm good with that.

Not a Belgian Waffle maker as stated in description.
In the description of this waffle maker, it states ' It's easy to cook restaurant-quality Belgian waffles at home in minutes with the Kitchen Collection™ Flip Waffle Maker. This is false advertisement. Belgian waffles are an inch or thicker, this was just half an inch thick. I washed the waffle maker first. It did give off a smell at first. The first waffle, I threw away just incase of the chemicals. Still smells a bit. For a regular waffle maker it would be good. Minus the chemical smell and not sure how long the maker will last. This waffle maker is wobbly and the handle doesn't line up to the other handle..

Chemicals & Waffles
When first heated, it smelled like toxic chemicals. I went ahead & poured in batter. The waffle came out black. It was not burned, it was the chemicals on the waffle maker. I let it cool, cleaned it with soapy water, and let it air dry. Tried another two waffles and they also came out black even though the smell was gone. I thought the automatic timer was burning the waffles. Tried a small piece and it tasted HORRID! Like bitter chemicals. I immediately spat it out. I know it was the waffle maker because after I used the same batter to make pancakes & the pancakes didn’t have the taste.

Great for waffles

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Hamilton Beach Flip Waffle Maker will make a great addition to your kitchen appliance collection. The non-stick plates worked great. I did spray both the top and bottom plates with just a little olive oil cooking spray. The flip control allowed the waffle to come out thick and fluffy. The removable drip tray ensures easy cleanup if you were to overfill the plates. The power on and ready lights indicate when it is ready to add batter. Note: it does not indicate when the waffle is ready. I followed package directions on the waffle mix and cooked for 4 minutes. It turned out perfectly! For cleanup, I simply wiped it clean with no residual mess.

Not Just For Waffles!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This flip waffle maker is actually pretty cool! It’s cooking size is large enough to make a pretty substantial waffle but the footprint is small enough to not take up a whole lot of counter space. I’ve tried both savory and sweet waffle mix-ins as well as shredded hash browns. The waffle maker is consistent when cooking multiple waffles for a crowd and I really like the removable tray that sits underneath, it catches any overflow batter if you happen to add to much. I also like that there are indicator lights on both sides so when it is flipped you can still see when the waffle is done. The only drawback I have is that the waffle plates in the top and bottom of the maker are not removable, making it a bit harder to clean. Overall this is a really good option for anyone who wants to try a flip style waffle maker. I know I definitely plan to keep trying new combinations!

I am very very pleased with the drip tray under the iron that comes out easily and keeps the counter from getting messy in the case of overfilling the iron. I also like the status indicator lights on each side of that iron that eases operation in that you always know it the iron it heating or accidently unplugged. It is also simple to use, simply plug it in since it has one temperature.
