Igor Gehenot - Shining Face (CD)

In 15 years of presence on the Belgian jazz scene, Igor Gehenot has covered a lot of ground. After two piano duo albums and the birth of the funk project No Steam, he is releasing a deep new album. Between understated groove and melancholic lyricism, the pianist from Liège unveils intimate and luminous music, carried by the complicity of exceptional partners and by the sincere momentum of an artist who has reached full maturity. He is joined this time by a high-flying rhythm section. The emblematic Sal La Rocca, a long-time accomplice, holds the bass end. With the in-demand Italian Umberto Odone, they offer us all the virtues of jazz as a trio: a good balance between rhythm and groove, but in a meditative atmosphere, intimate.
