Very nice

I use a mortar and pestle to grind certain spices, and I've wanted one for a long time. This is the perfect small size for grinding a couple of teaspons of a spice and also for grinding up pills if you need to. I wish I'd had this when I had to grind up pills for my cat and put it in an emuslion of vaseline to smear on his lips--the only way the feisty feline would let me give him medicine! The bottom of the pestle and the bottom of the mortar bowl, in contrast to the rest of the implements, are rough, not smooth. At first, I didn't like this, then I realized how helpful the friction of the surfaces would be for grinding. This is an attractive piece and highly useful. Five stars!

Broke after 1 use

Really dissapointed. I like the design but I have a useless item now: the pestle broke after the 1st use! Not sure if this was defective or it's just a very bad designed item. (the pestle might be too narrow for the stone material) I see all the other reviews are collected as part of a promotion, so now I am not sure I should have trusted them... Won't recommend, waste of money
