Description

Book Synopsis

(English / German)

gmp - von Gerkan, Marg and Partners Architects is one of the world's leading architectural firms. They are renowned for their designs in the fields of sports, transportation, and culture, for their intelligent interventions in existing architecture, and for their expert implementation of sustainable concepts. The current volume 15 of the complete works presents 55 buildings and projects created between 2019 and 2022. These include the elegant Xi'an International Convention and Exhibition Center, the Stade de Luxembourg, Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, the Großer Burstah office building in Hamburg, and the Roche Open Campus in Mannheim. But urban schemes are also featured, such as the concept for Chengdu Future City, a car-free master plan for an innovation park in the capital of Sichuan. The projects can be read both as "grand gestures and meaningful places."

  • Selected examples in typological order: education, sports, culture, office, transportation
  • The contemporary, stringent design by Heimann + Schwantes and the book's fine paperstock and binding create an attractive volume
  • Three essays explore the characteristics of the architecture

  • Ausgewählte Beispiele in typologischer Gliederung: Bildung, Sport, Kultur, Büro, Verkehr
