Not bad, but needs tweaks
I’ve had some variation of the Fenix 8 for about 2 years now (keep swapping between solar and AMOLED). While it’s a great fitness tracker and the UI update is nice the responsiveness of the AMOLED model is lacking. Feels like I’m waiting for it load or finish thinking before it does something. What it does well: -compass waypoint tracker -health tracking -flashlight -easy access to a lot of different features through shortcuts What needs improvement: -UI sluggish -saving activity is slow

Still figuring it out...
Very bright screen makes reading it anywhere very easy. Some differences with the Fenix 7 I like, some I don't. The phone sound and mic are very good - good enough to rely on. Trying to download topographic maps however, seems to take many hours - after 6 hours, I'm still only 40% there. Had a mysterious freeze of the screen already, but a soft reboot seems to have solved the problem. Can't get my fenix 7 watch face back! So, a work in progress.

Overall great watch
I prefer MIP with solar better than amold since I run outside a lot and the display and battery life is worse than Fenix 7 pro I had before so please bring back MIP solar display in the next generation. Thanks!

Good watch, but feel outdated.
The watch is good overall but feels old, like it is not from recent years. It is laggy and slow; the buttons are super hard and stick a bit. Good autonomy.

Basics Fail
The one and only thing every single smart watch must get right - heart rate monitor. This thing is awful, even after wearing it the way they demand to get an accurate heart rate. It reads really high before I even work out. Then really low when I’m panting. Unacceptable.

Fantastic Display and Features
I haven't had time to explore all the features and widgets since there are so many, but the Amoled scree and the touch screen are a huge improvement from my last Fenix. The watch is great and I would highly recommend it.

Nice watch
Lots of features but coming from and Apple watch I’m still trying to figure it out. I wish it had a CrossFit and other option for activities. Don’t think there’s one for stationary bike either l, but like I said I’m still trying to figure it out. Wish it would auto detect sleep also.

Apple update helped!
Microphone on watch did not communicate with my iPhone 17 - that is until the most recent update by apple. Now it works great. Loving my fenix more as I get more familiar with the logic to navigate functions

Focus on Performance and Size
The Fenix 8 51mm is a beast. I was looking for a robust watch that didn't feel 'small' on my wrist, and this size is perfect. The screen real estate is massive, making maps and data screens incredibly easy to read. The Silver bezel paired with the Orange bands looks incredible—sporty yet sophisticated. Battery life is unbeatable, and the build quality is top-notch. Truly the king of adventure watches.

3 weeks in...
I decided to upgrade from the Venue 2 plus to the Fenix 8. The Fenix had some GPS features I really wanted so I took advantage of the Black Friday sale. Much like my old watch, this watch is great. The screen is so easy to read and it is easy to navigate. My favorite feature is honestly the flashlight! It is so dang handy! The one thing I am a little disappointed in and the reason I am only giving 4 stars is the accuracy of the heartrate monitor. It is way less accurate than my old watch. Like sometime 30 to 40 beats per minute low. I would think for the giant increase in price that this would be a lot better. Having been on some Garmin forums since buying the watch to see if there is a fix it appears I am not the only one with this problem.

Legit
Touch screen is great. Battery life with a heavy draining screen saver / and many workouts a week is still at 7 days at least.

Probably the best smartwatch you can buy!
I upgraded from a Fenix 6 that I had purchased in 2020. The Fenix 8 AMOLED is an absolutely amazing piece of tech, even in comparison to the F6. I was always underwhelmed by the display of the Fenix 6, as all of the advertised screenshots and downloadable watch faces always looked so much brighter and had more contrast than the screen actually had. The Fenix 6, although amazingly durable, was just OK from the context of visualizations. The Fenix 8 display is what I wanted the 6 to be; bright and easy to read at a glance. Battery life is improved by about 2 days (16 days on F8, 14 days on F6), and I keep the screen LED’s off and only turn on with “gesture”, meaning that the screen is off (black) until I move my wrist to look at it, then it lights up for 8 seconds. I believe this improves the battery life by even more. I’ve had the watch for about a week now, and it says it has 9 days left before needing a recharge. Of course, if I use it to track my hikes or bike rides, that amount of accurate tracking will use more battery. But just wearing it barely uses battery life. I got the Orange Spark this time (F6 was Black), I always liked the orange accents and titanium grey bezel…matches a lot of my personal hiking gear. I opted to get the 47mm watch, same a my old F6. I felt that the 51mm size was way too big. The screen is the same size, but the bezel is 2mm wider and holds a slightly larger battery (24 days I think?) I find that the 47mm size is perfect for my medium-sized wrist and arm. I actually tried an Apple Watch Series 10 earlier this year, and I absolutely hated it. I found the Apple Watch to be nothing more than having a 2nd iPhone strapped to your wrist. I had to go back to a Garmin… With the Garmin Connect app, I was able to sync the new F8 with all my old F6 data, so no lost time.

What a great product!!
I upgraded from a Forerunner 255 and I have no regrets. This watch is extremely functional, the battery life is exceptional and I can’t wait to use it for more adventures.

Good but.....
I've had for about a month and like most of the features. Buttons are strange but functional - locks up when I try to start an activity and has to be rebooted about once a day.

Great but
I bought this watch a month ago. I really enjoy the battery life and the screen. My only annoyance is sometimes it doesn’t correctly pick up my sleep and another big thing is, I can’t send text via iOS from the watch. And that itself is making me debate about getting an android phone or switching to the ultra 3
