Survives winter in Seattle!
I've had a few gardenias over the years but never could get one to survive the PNW winters, zone 8b This one finally did. I bought it last year in August and planted it in a pot. It stayed evergreen through winter but no buds I could see in spring. I was worried I wouldn't get blooms. As summer continues, I saw a couple of buds and more buds. It bloomed I August and still a few blooms in September. I probably had maybe 12 blooms so I was happy with it. The blooms smell so good and are like a unicorn to me when I see one!

Sad little plant
I received the plant today. It was packaged well and arrived in fairly good condition. The plant itself however is very small, not taller than 6 inches. And the leaves are kind of yellowing. I contemplated returning it and I still may. But for now I watered it and placed it outside where it will receive sun. So I’ll see how it responds before I make a decision to keep.

The plant arrived with all Green and healthy leaves. I promptly repotted it and made sure it got plenty of water. The roots were overgrown and dried out. Had to loosen those at the base. Hope to enjoy the gardenias as they grow and bloom. The best thing to do is immediately open the parcel and water the plant and keep it in shaded or filtered light area to not shock the plant. Too much hot afternoon sun will not help.

I ordered it in summer time which is not a perfect time to plant. It got here earlier than they told me. It looks very healthy, but the root system are all out. I transplanted it to a bigger pot so it can grow a bit before I move it to ground in the fall. It doesn't have any blossom cause they trim them to ship. I will wait until it blossom to see if it's perfect or not. Right now, I am satisfied with it.
