I had a IXc. Was told this was a good upgrade from that unit. So far I'd say it's the same. Except now I get all the alerts I didn't use to get. I understand the detector will learn as I go, but I'm a bit disappointed with the max 4!

bad preset speed warning
it came with 70mph as speed warning. it warns you when you reach 70 then repeats it over & over while above 70. device should not come preset with any speed!

I used today for 680 miles. . . it surely is NOT WORTH $400! Way too many none essential beeps! Absolutely CANNOT UNDERSTAND what type of warning the voice is giving. . . UNABLE TO HEAR THE VOICE. . . on max volume & driving a quality car. . . not noisy! I'll try again tomorrow all day. . . . before I return. . . . . I HAVE DRIVEN WITH RADAR DETECTORS FOR OVER 60 years!

Peace of Mind
I've had different Escort models for over 20 years, recently I had the MAX3 for over a year so I thought I would take it up a notch. Really liking this model, I drive over 50K a year for my job and it makes me feel better going down the road.

The Max 4 is working great. Still false alarms some but nothing like the old X50’s we had. I’m very happy with the Max 4!

Not impressed at all
The device isnt very loud compared to the previous models, it seems to give false alarms but doesn't always make a sound when it shows there's a signal. If it doesn't improve I will be returning this model

I didn’t like that there
I didn’t like that there was no book and directions. It is not very loud and the on button is so small when you reach on TASB to turn off you touch button under it. I have no internet service and my cell gets shotty signal.

Verdict still out
So far, and I’ve only used it three times, I’m not at all impressed. A lot of false alerts, one legitimate alert, and one possibly missed alert where a state trooper was on the side of the road looking for speeders but no alarm went off.

cant see image in daytime lighting conditions. i don't know exactly how well it performs yet. It seems awfully quiet ,so far. It's hard to know how to take advantage of its features because the app really is useless and I can't even get my Win 10 computer to recognize the detector when connected with any of my 17 different usb cables.
