The Ember mug is highly appreciated for its ability to keep beverages warm for extended periods, making it a favorite among coffee lovers. However, many guests have expressed concerns about the durability of the charging coasters, which often fail after a short period. Despite these issues, the mug's design and functionality are praised, and having multiple coasters is seen as a practical solution for maintaining temperature while moving around the house or office.

    Failed

There are 2 little pins that need to spring up when the mug is lifted. One of them lost its springiness, so my mug no longer charges.

Fabulous mug, charger pins a problem

I love the mug! It has been life-changing! Unfortunately, not so the charger. I have had issues with the pins becoming stuck, and it's virtually impossible to unstick them.

    The charger's inside pin fails

I had a bunch of the Mugs and have gifted plenty. the issue is the inside pin on the chargers. they break, its always the same problem. I don't get why they haven't redesigned the charger.

EMBER SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!

Why hasn't Ember told its customers about Steve's vinegar fix for charging coasters???? I never heard of it untill I almost bought a replacement. Ember used to replace the charging coasters when the pins got stuck but now only do it under warranty. The charging coaster is a huge flaw with the Ember mugs, so they could have helped their customers by revealing the fix.

Fails to Charge within 12 months of normal usage

I concur with over 200 other reviews: 1. Problem: FAILS TO CHARGE WITHIN 12 MONTHS. 2. Root Cause: POOR DESIGN and possibly POOR manufacturing practices.

    Love, love, love!

My travel mug is 2 years old. I use it every day. It still works great! I leave mine on the charger, most of the time. I can’t go without it !

    Great Mug, Horrible Charger

Ive been through two of these bases. Super careful with them, keep them away from water. The charging pins are very fragile. Eventually the pins get pushed down flush with the base surface so pins won't contact the charging rings on the bottom of the mug. Love the mug, but poorly designed/made charger.

    Pins get stuck and fail

As so many others have mentioned, the pins on the coaster get stuck and charging will become intermittent or fail entirely. Even with very careful drying and cleaning, we have a drawer full of broken coasters. I love the mugs, five stars there, but the coasters are terrible and incredibly expensive. I recommend waiting to purchase any Ember products until they fix this issue.

    Fix the coaster pins.

I love the mug. The charging coaster not so much. After 6 months I could not recharge the mug. It took me awhile to realize that the coaster contact pins were the problem. I fixed it. Scotch taped a small piece of aluminum foil to the coaster so it touches the inner pin but not the outer one. It works like a charm.

    Charging Coaster has major flaw

The mug itself is great. We have 5 of them. However, the charging coaster is terrible. Of the 5 that we have, only 1 works. The problem is the same that so many others have run into…one of the pins gets stuck down and therefore won’t make the connection. I will not buy any more, and will no longer recommend them to friends, like I did at first. (I’m not paying the price that a new charger costs.)

I love my Ember but one of the pins are stuck! After reading these reviews, I’m going home to try Steve’s vinegar hack before I re-order. Thanks Steve for being the hero we didn’t know we needed:)

    Pin Gets Stuck

Unfortunately the design suffers a flaw where one or more of the pins gets stuck. It's a well known issue but hasn't been addressed. For example even though I hand washed and thoroughly (and I mean thoroughly) dried the mug after each use back before placing the mug back on the charging cradle one of the pins still stuck. If the problem occurs even with this level of care clearly there's something amiss with the design. While some users have successfully gotten a stuck pin unstuck by bathing it in alcohol while pressing down on the pin with something like a paperclip the best thing one can do other than not buy the product is to use a credit card that double or triples the one year warranty so you don't have to pay for a replacement.

    Thank you Steve!!!!!

I have 3 Ember cups and can’t live without them. One at home, one in the motor home and one in my travel bag. The other day one of the bases stopped charging and after trying everything I landed on Steve’s review on soaking the pins on the charger base with vinegar. It worked and Steve deserves some sort of award from the company for figuring this out. Thank you Ember for my cups and thank you Steve for getting one charging again!

Charging coaster is a poor design.

The cup/mug staying hot is a great idea. Unfortunately, the pins on the charging coaster fatigue after a few months. You are able to pull the pins up to make it work for a few weeks until they will no longer work. Ember needs to redesign the charging coaster. I’ve owned two charging coasters. Same issue with both.

    Terrible charging base

Pin stuck after minimum use - Terrible charging base using spring loading pins that stick, and contact lost. Waste of money if cannot re-charge mug unless you have a functional base. Fix the product - way too many complaints all over social media!
