Elden Bench Cushion Smell
The bench is lovely, however I’m writing to report a serious quality issue with the cushion included with the Studio McGee Elden bench, purchased in late November. The cushion emitted an extremely strong, putrid odor — comparable to a dead rodent — for over two full weeks. This was not a mild “new foam” smell. The odor was severe enough that I believed there was a dead animal in my garage and spent time investigating and addressing that possibility. The cushion was stored in a ventilated space and allowed ample time to air out, yet the odor persisted, so I moved it to the garage to off-gas. After more than two weeks the continued smell made the cushion unusable. This is an indoor furniture product, and this level of off-gassing is not acceptable for something intended to be used inside a home. Ultimately, I had no choice but to discard the cushion due to the odor and health concerns. While the bench itself is fine, the cushion was defective.

Love came a day early! I was waiting for this bench to go on sale. Easy to put together just don’t completely tighten the screws all the way until you put it all together. That’s way the screws will line up where they’re supposed to be. Love it!!
