Disappointed
It was great when opened and within a minute, as my daughter was playing with it, it screwed apart and all the parts fell out. Haven't been able to put it back to its older glory without the instructions. Which we were not able to find!

Total junk
We bought this at the Grand Canyon gift shop. It does not work as a scope at all. All you see is a blurry mess. We tried moving it around and focusing it- nothing. Do not buy this!

Decent pocket telescope...not so great microscope
My child liked product, but more for the telescopic features. He never really figured out how to make it work as a microscope, and neither could I! It worked fairly well as a pocket-sized telescope and we were able to see leaves at the tops of very tall trees. Anything we tried to view using it as a microscope was blurry and out of focus no matter what we tried. It's not the most durable item and broke relatively easily, despite trying to be careful with it. So, fun at first with limited activities, but not designed well for microscope features or to hold up with a careful 7-8yo's play.

Disappointment
My son (7) had fun with this the day it arrived. He really hasn't picked it up since. I gave it a try and found it hard to look through and really couldn't see anything. I think he had the same problem. When the scope arrived, it was not in the factory package. It split open and the scope was loose and had come apart. I'm not sure if it was put back together correctly because it came with no type of "manual" or instructions on how to put it together or how to use it.

Needs work
This is a great concept but needs some work on execution. It's finicky and needs too much work to get objects in focus. Also felt flimsy and I was worried that it would easily break. My kids are very gentle on toys and they both said they were worried about twisting it too far and it falling apart.

Fun for my son, but quality not the greatest
My 7-yr old son received this pocket scope. The pocket clip fell off almost immediately, but the telescope / microscope component of this pen has held up for a couple weeks now. He enjoys playing spy games and has added it to his spy toy collection. It doesn't seem like the sturdiest toy, but it's held up thus far, in terms of use and enjoyment. However, it's more of a novelty toy. The pen can't be focused, so the microscope component of this only works if you put something on the table and put this directly on top of it. You could really only look at a dollar bill, or insect wing, or something very flat like that, so it has limited usefulness. The telescope end of the pen also does not focus, but it seems OK for looking at things that are far away. My son would give this 5 stars for fun, and I give it 3 stars for quality, so we compromised at 4 stars. My son received this as a product tester, in exchange for an honest review. This opinion is all our own.

A little disappointed
It didn't come with any instructions, so it was a bit confusing at first, we were able to figure out what side to look thru by using the picture on the package. It works ok as a telescope for far away, but the microscope part my kids couldn't figure out how to see anything up close, it was all a blur. It was tricky for them to figure out how to focus (8 yo girl, 6 yo boy), eventually they gave up. We have a big backyard, so it was fun to look at things far away, but eventually they became frustrating with the lack of focus they could control and cast it aside.

Needs directions
I received this product for my son in exchange for an honest review. He was very excited to try it as soon as it arrived. We got it out of the packaging and I noticed there were no instructions other than a few pictures on the back. The telescope end seems to work ok. We could not figure out how to see anything through the microscope end. I did turn the tube a little, but feared it might come apart after reading other reviews. It seemed to bring things into focus a little more but not enough to see details on small objects. My son had fun with the telescope end but was frustrated with the microscope end.

Really cool toy until it falls apart
My son received this for Christmas - it worked great - so exciting to see him inspecting EVERYTHING!!! But then as he was focusing, it fell apart and a bunch of pieces came tumbling out. We have tried numerous times to reinsert the tubes and lenses - unsuccessfully. It should have directions for just this problem! And maybe glue the ends on!!! Very disappointing to lose such a fun and educational toy in this way! I say I would recommend to a friend BUT only if they immediately glue in the screw caps first!

Great fun..for 15 minutes
The first one I bought was completely out of focus, not matter what you did, you could not use it, so I brought it back to give it another shot. This one worked fine and is a great item, but fell apart in 15 minutes. If the company could manage to make it more durable since the main users are children, that would be helpful. I hate throwing money away, but one, hour and a half trip to replace it is all I'm going to do..the second one ended up in the garbage after just an hour....15 minutes of use and 45 minutes of trying to put it back together to make it work.

what a bummer
My son loved his telescope, until it broke. He was looking at absolutely everything with it, which was pretty fun to watch. Anyway, I went online to see how I could put it back together, but there are no directions anywhere online. Bummer.

Same story!
I bought it for my daughter while traveling as a coming home present. She is 14 and careful, but within ten minutes she came into the house in tears and not understanding how it came apart. I can't put it back together without a diagram!

Poorly made
Literally within five minutes of opening this product, the lens broke off and nearly cut my son's eye.

Cannot reassemble!
My daughter was so thrilled to get the microscope and loves science. Unfortunately, she's been very frustrated as it fell apart and the insides never worked again. I tried looking for assembly instructions and spent hours trying to figure out how to put it back together. :(

Same experience
Like the other reviews that I see now, this was good for a couple of uses, and then the curious minds unscrewed it. Very disappointed to see that there are not instructions to reassemble it. It would have been a great learning opportunity.

Fell apart
The telescope and microscope came apart very easily and I could not figure out how to reassemble he darn thing. I almost have it, but not quite. I wish they would provide a parts diagram and schematic of how it goes together.
