About the Book

Since her native country declared war on a neighboring state, M. has lived in the city of B., exiled and in a sort of limbo, isolated from her home and her native language, unable to write. However, during a trip abroad for a literary festival, when she ends up stranded in an unfamiliar city with no way of contacting anyone, instead of lost, she feels liberated: finally free of all roots, all she wants is to leave behind not only her former life, but also her very identity, in order to disappear.

María Stepánova (Moscú, 1972) es escritora y periodista, así como editora de la revista cultural Colta. Autora de volúmenes de novela, poesía y ensayo, ha recibido numerosos galardones de gran prestigio en Rusia, entre ellos el Premio Andréi Bieli de poesía y el Premio Gran Libro por En memoria de la memoria (Acantilado, 2022).
