A: Sadie, This product does get warm when in use. It is advised to always unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. In addition, the manual also states users should allow the product to cool before cleaning or handling.

Q: The browning dial on the toaster is very loose and easy to spin. Doesn't seem to stay at one level or click into place. Is this right??

A: This product does not have a retractable cord. However you can wrap the cord on the bottom of the unit if you wish to expose less of it on your countertop.

A: Fred, This toaster has an "Extra- Life Carriage Control Lever" which helps bring the items near the top of the toaster to assist with the removal of the smaller slices of bread.

Q: does the bagel setting toast both sides of the slice? Can it be adjusted to only toast the sliced side?

A: Bagel eater, this toaster offers a "bagel" selection option but that option pertains to the time needed to toast this type of thicker bread. There is not an option to toast only the sliced side. Having said that, I am a bagel lover myself and have been very pleased with this toaster.

Q: Does this toaster beep when done? The toaster I have now beeps very loudly and there is no way to turn it off. I want to make sure I won't have the same issue with this one.

Don't buy for bagels!
A toaster that has a setting for bagels should only toast the bagel on one side. It should also have details on which side it will toast. This toaster toasts the bagel on both sides just like a normal piece of bread. Had I know this I would have bought a different brand. Not impressed although it is metal and not plastic.

Defective
Returned this item to the store where purchased, as it was defective. Lever mechanism would not stay down/in place when activated.

Good Toaster but....
Nice slim design but slots are too shallow and not long enough. You cannot fit two non-square pieces of bread in at same time. Have not tried bagels yet.

Shoodiest item on market
I bought this about 3 months ago. After a month, the toaster would no longer stay down. I returned it to the store and got another one. A month later. I returned it for a third one (same reason). 3rd one no longer works. Really lightweight and cheap. Obviously made to be as inexpensive as possible to produce, with quality being expendable. Will never buy thi brand again.

This Cuisinart 2-slice classic toaster is very good quality. It is easy to use and toasts bread, bagels, etc. evenly. It is also easy to remove the crumb tray for emptying. I'd definitely buy this toaster again!

2Slice Stainless Toaster
We purchased the 2 slice stainless steel model three weeks ago. It has been used over ten times in that time frame. It still has that metal smell after using and when toasting bagels on the bagel setting it toasts the top and bottom. Is that normal? Cheryl

Junk
I have had this toaster for 1 week. On the highest setting the sourdough bread is only lightly browned. On medium setting for other breads it’s almost burnt. This housing of this toaster gets very hot when in use, someone is going to get burnt if touched and the lever feels like it’s going to break. The only thing that’s good about it is the look. Over the last 60 years I have had other cheaper toasters and they all worked much better than this one. For Cuisinart name the quality of this toaster is very very poor. In my estimation it’s a piece of junk. I don’t recommend buying it.

Don't know why there are 1 to 8 heat setting as only settings 6 to 8 make normal toasted look on most breads. Other wize good toaster

Worst ever
Don't bother. One slice, it heats up, and then you have to wait to toast anything else because the lever won't stay down. Of course, I'll get a "gee, our customers are SO important" reply to this review. Hey, I don't know....how about FIXING the issue instead of telling people you "value feedback"? Sure you do. That's why this issue hasn't been fixed.
