For older kids
We like the markers set so I went ahead and tried out this paintbrush set since it was on sale. I have a 2 yr old and I find this toy doesn’t work well with younger ages because you can’t see the color you just dipped the brush into which basically means you’re mixing the colors on the brush with whatever colors you used previously that are still on it, which you can’t see. That basically meant any color that came off it was purple since it over powered any other color he tried to use. It would frustrate him but also it’s not good for a toddler learning color identification if he dips into yellow but gets purple. I suspect if the kid is older and has a paper towel to wipe their brush on between colors maybe that can help?

We love the fun themes Crayola uses for their products and how much they relate to the kids likes. We would have loved a longer cord for this activity, but overall it's a lot of fun and allows my son to paint without a lot of supervision, freeing me to make dinner etc.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 3 year old enjoyed painting with the magic light brush set. The set up was simple and straightforward and it really is mess free. He especially liked that the pen lights up when he hovers over the paint colors. I plan to use this daily and especially on long road trips. The pen has a chord which means no little pieces to keep track of which is a plus with a 3 year old.
