Book Synopsis
"Cosmic Goodness reminds you what I had to learn the hard way: life gets better the moment you stop trying to control everything, trust the pull inside you, and let yourself become who you're meant to be." --Mel Robbins, New York Times bestselling author and host of The Mel Robbins Podcast
Cassidy Gard embodied the energy of a 2000s rom-com heroine, exactly what she envisioned as a teen watching journalist Andie Anderson in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Sharp, intuitive, and lit by ambition, she built a career at Good Morning America, navigating a hybrid world of investigative reporting, exclusive interviews with cultural icons, and the adrenaline of breaking national news.
Beneath the achievement was the generational trauma she carried as the daughter of a volatile alcoholic. A girl conditioned to survive by dimming her light, she was no longer willing to let her family's dysfunction define her future.
At seventeen, she left Florida for New York City, craving expansion. What followed was a whirlwind of early YouTube journalism, the identity-shaping landscapes of Los Angeles and New York, and rising through the industry while battling anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. Serendipitously, a golden thread of run-ins with "The Rockstar," her musical hero, appeared at pivotal moments like mystical guideposts, leading her toward new people, places, and possibilities.
As the world shut down, she woke up. An inner revolution pulled her toward conscious sobriety. She left the burnout loop for Montana sunsets, a cabin called Cosmic Goodness, and a partner lovingly nicknamed Squirrel she met on 2/22/22, followed by a metamorphosis into motherhood.
"Cassidy Gard doesn't just intellectually understand spiritual principles. She has lived them. She viscerally gets it, aligning the earthy and the divine in a fantastic way. What a heart, what a brain, what a writer. She hits you right between the eyes and you feel blessed." --Marianne Williamson
Review Quotes
"Cosmic Goodness is a love letter to every woman who's ever chased success and lost herself in the process. Cassidy writes with the precision of a journalist and the heart of a poet--transforming burnout into breakthrough, loneliness into light."--Deuxmoi
"Cosmic Goodness is a wonderful door to open and look inside a very colorful life. Cassidy and I share some really unique life lessons. Both our parents took us to Grateful Dead shows beginning from our earliest days. We just had different seats. Also we both did time on The Bachelor television show. She was in the field, I was in an editing suite. But we were weaving in and out of the same worlds and Cassidy's book is a great glimpse into her perspective of it all. Her sense of humor carries you through the darker moments and I found I couldn't put down the book once I started the journey."--Justin Kreutzmann, director of There Will Be Drums!
"Cosmic Goodness is an essential companion for any woman navigating the divine intersection of soul-aligned pursuits and the transformation of becoming a mother--proof that we are the designers of our own lives."--Liz Tran, founder of Reset and author of The Karma of Success
"Authentic, vulnerable, and beautifully written in a voice that makes you want to be friends with the author, Cosmic Goodness is an important, timely read."--Zibby Owens
"Cassidy writes with the kind of honesty that makes you laugh through your tears. Her gorgeous story is a roadmap for anyone searching for meaning in the mess of ambition, love, and family."--Jo Piazza, bestselling author of Everyone Is Lying to You
"In Cosmic Goodness, Cassidy Gard trades breaking news for inner stillness, tracing her transformation from burnout to belonging. With the warmth and wisdom of a late-night letter to a friend, she explores ambition, grief, sobriety, and the miracle of divine timing. Gard writes with the heart of a seeker and the clarity of someone who's met her shadows and decided to love them anyway. This sparkling memoir is a reminder that reinvention isn't a deadline, but a divine unfolding. Every page glows with tenderness, humor, and the courage to begin again. It's a book that will leave you with more grace for your past and more hope about what's still to come."--Mari Andrew, NY Times bestselling author and artist of Am I There Yet?
"It doesn't get better, you get better. What beautiful words to live by, and how Cassidy Gard embodies that and shows us there is a way to crack open our hearts and embrace all the cosmic goodness there is in the world; for every woman who has embraced the pain, got through it, and learned how to come home to herself."--Jane Green, NY Times bestselling author
"Paolo Sorrentino spoke of 'The real, the useless and the unspeakable kind of love that brings pain, yet also forces you to start again.' If you've had love and heartbreaks and are on road to rebirth, Cassidy Gard's luminous memoir will accompany and inspire with wit, kindness, honesty and hard-fought wisdom. Plus all the Tinseltown wildness you could ask for."--Junot Díaz, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
"This is a work of rare honesty and grace. Cosmic Goodness captures the raw, messy, mystical, and magnificent landscape of motherhood--the parts that are too often left unspoken, too taboo to say aloud. This is a book to read slowly, to breathe with, and to feel seen through."--Aviva Romm, MD, NY Times bestselling author of Hormone Intelligence and founder of The Mama Pathway
Cosmic Goodness is a masterclass in what it looks like to stop performing and begin living from within. It traces her own path out of the 'desert of lack and the city of not-enoughness' toward a life rooted in healing, motherhood, and a spiritual homecoming. Cassidy Gard writes with the kind of radical truthfulness that reminds us our mess is not the end of the story--it is the doorway.--Jennifer Pastiloff, bestselling author of Proof of Life and On Being Human
