Better than it has the right to be.
Bands releasing new music 50 years into their career is always a risky proposition. However, Cheap Trick still boasts 3 of its original 4 members. Most critical to their sound is lead vocalist Robin Zander. He still has a better voice than some singers half his age. The songs are solid, but many sound like you’ve heard it from them before. This wouldn’t be a problem if some of them sounded like their old hits, but nothing here is quite that catchy. Existing fans will enjoy this, but it probably won’t get them any new ones at this point.
