My new favorite lens
This lens is so flexible. I can use it in so many different situations. With the f1.2 aperture, I can achieve beautiful bokeh and shoot in low light environments. It is a great complement to the RF 24-70 F2.8L lens.

Portrait beast!!!
I bought this lens after much contemplation since I already owned RF 50mm 1.8, RF 35mm 1.8, RF 28-70 F2.0 & RF 85mm F1.8 Macro. This lens is nothing but a portrait beast. The background is silky smooth when you shoot in F1.2. I love how fast the autofocus on this one works especially in low light when you want to preserve that ambient lighting and additionally I shoot in manual focus mode to get even shallower depth of field like eyes or details during portraits. I primarily shoot Indian weddings and this is my go to to get that beautiful colors. Nothing can beat Canon!!!! Oh wait, I ended upgrading my RF 85mm 1.8 to RF 85mm 1.2mm after madly in love with 1.2.

Worth Every Penny
I have a few lenses in my kit bag to choose from but this one never fails. Solid performer time and time again with portraits, modeling, sports our product photography. A must have for the Pro shooter.

Sharpest lens in the arsenal
Is it expensive? YES. It's also the best and sharpest lens I own. The 1.2 aperture has allowed me to get great shots in low light that are tack sharp. The colors are stunning and it performs spectacularly. I can't say enough good things about this lens. It's worth the money.

Expensive but solid
Very sharp lens with excellent bokeh. While this lens is expensive, it's a great addition for those that need a lens in the 50mm range.

This lens is a KO!
Okay I’m gonna start off with saying I wish I didn’t borrow this lens from my friend. I shoot with an R5/R6, and use the adapted EF 50mm f/1.2 but after using this lens I have to say it’s worth the price of admission. The EF is an amazing lens but the RF is taking that lens and putting it on steroids. Sure the size of the EF is smaller but once adapted, not by much. The RF is so much faster in focusing, it’s sharp through the aperture range, probably maxes out the pixels of the R6 by f/2. If I had to nitpick anything there is a very noticeable vignette wide open, but that’s not uncommon for a wide aperture lens. And me personally, I don’t use the control ring for much on any RF lens. I used to have it set for white balance, I tried it for aperture (like I do on my fuji camera), and I find I’m just bumping it too easily. Now I’m waiting on a client check to arrive so I can add this to the kit!

Canon RF 50ml 1.2
The lens works wonderfully When I used it with no flash.. however maybe I had a bad copy, the lens seemed like it was communicating any information to the camera because I rarely made a successful picture that I like when using flash… for that reason, I had to return it.

Bokehlicious lens!
Yes, it’s pricy. Yes, it’s heavier than a typical Nifty Fifty. But, wow - this lens is razor sharp and the background blurs like butter. I love it. The lens makes me want to shoot more. Great colors too. Love the lens.

One word: Amazing!
This new 50mm 1.2 is simply amazing! Considerable improvements compared to EF version: sharper, focuses faster and extremely accurately with the R camera body (basically, you can get f/1.2 shots all day long), and better control of fringing. This lens still has its own character; it has not gotten too "clinical" as newer lenses seem to be getting lately. A key ability of f/1.2 lenses are their ability to create separation of subject from background (or a 3-D effect), and this lens delivers here extremely well! Out-of-focus areas gently transition into dreamy blur and lift the subject off of background. Naturally, this lens takes in tons of light! With my RP body, I can seriously take shots in near total darkness! You can get very close to subjects, giving it pseudo-macro abilities with a good crop. Additionally, I like the focus limiter and control ring, which make for some very nice enhancements and additional controls. It is large, a tiny bit bigger than an 85 1.4, but feels nicely balanced. This lens hasn't left my camera body since purchasing, and I imagine it won't for quite some time. I am very pleased with this amazing lens, and think it's worth every penny! All sample shots in this review shot a f/1.2.

Fantastic Lens
While I am one of those who favor a 35mm focal length as "normal", I also love the 50mm for it's ability to work as both a "walk around" and "portraiture" lens. This iteration of the focal length doesn't disappoint! I've used the lens under artificial and natural light and look forward to seeing how it performs with flash. So far, I've been more than pleased with it's wide open performance - the bokeh is very pleasing and beats the other 50mm primes I've used. It's also fine at smaller apertures and I've attached one shot at f/2.8 and one at f/16 to give an idea of how it works at apertures other than wide open. Color rendition is excellent. The lens is fast focusing, but very quiet. As you'd expect from a lens this fast it is not lightweight, but I had no problem carrying it around during a four hour long event while also carrying a bag containing the other RF lenses as well a regular size Canon flash unit. Definitely worth the investment!
