Q: will this adhere to a slightly curved windshield, will it stay in place at high speeds. I want to record video out the windshield with my phone.

A: It is not recommended to use the Bracketron TripGrip Window & Vent Mount on a curved windshield or at high speeds. Suction cup mounts require a flat, smooth, non-porous surface to form a secure seal.

A: This particular suction cup is designed to work on the window. It would not adhere to wood.

Green button stops working
Super disappointed with this item. After a couple of months of use the green button to let go of the phone when its being used stopped working. I have to manually pull the green button out to get the holder to work. I bought two and both have the same mechanical issue. It’s not durable after a couple of uses.

I have only used it a couple times as a window mount. Based on limited use, it stays on the window fine. You will want to adjust the arm how you want it before you attach to the window. It comes off the window if you try to adjust it while it is attached. The buttons to open the phone holder and to release the suction cup are not smooth. Since the mount is flexible, it does bounce when driving. To fix that, I mounted it so that the holder rests on the dash. With the phone turned sideways, it does not extend over the hood in my field fo vision, which is great for easily seeing the phone when driving and not having part of the road blocked (except for just the suction mount). It is a good window mount if you do not plan on using it alot and just want something for an occasional trip.

I really wanted to like this window/vent mount but the button to lock the phone in place always gets stuck. The location of the button isn't user friendly for releasing the phone either. Pros, it does suction well to the window and stays in place.

not the best for frequent usage
it worked great but with frequent uses the sides wouldn’t fully open and i’d have to shove my phone in n out of it and the button isn’t useful enough it doesn’t open it enough and if the suction would come undone then it would take forever to stick back on and be sturdy enough to stay and hold the phone in place

Cross country driving
Needed this for a drive from Mississippi to California. I wanted a front and back camera that was able to work in the dark/at night as I’d be driving mostly at night. I tested this out before damaging the drive and the feedback was good enough to make out details I would need in case of an accident. Daytime works just as good. The process of getting the video from a drive isn’t too hard. I’ve never used a dash cam so it took me a couple YouTube videos to figure it out. Same for the installation process. Overall, it captures everything I need it to, and once you get the hang of it, the video is easy to get from your drives. Now that I’m back in California, I’m glad I got this cause I’ll really need this for insurance purposes lol!

Defective out of the box.
I'm going be returning it. I don't know if I'll try another one or just get a refund. Mine was defective right out of the box. When you try to squeeze the 2 sides together to hold the phone, they don't grab. And then the release button does nothing small, little, tiny pieces of black plastic, when falling out of it does not appear to be returned.

Absolute junk. The button for releasing the grip of the phone worked 4 times before jamming. With effort you can convince it to release but then it stays stuck in the open position. The suction pops off randomly when it’s too warm or too cold. Just a really poorly made version of something that should be simple.

Don't buy, terrible quality!
Quality is crap. Broke after two months of VERY light use. I think I used this a grand total of maybe two dozen times. Also, even when it did work, it took two hands to get your phone situated, and two hands and A LOT of finger strength to get it to let go of your phone again!

Waste of money and time
Didn’t even get out of the parking lot before having issues. The T-adapter ball joint was missing from the box. This piece is necessary to use the vent mount. Tried to use the window mounting suction cup. Cleaned the glass well, let the alcohol dry completely. Installed as directed. Set up and went to leave. First speed bump in the parking lot made the arm bounce up and down, causing the suction cup to come unstuck and fall. Broke both the screen protector and lens protector because of the fall.

Malformed suction cup, broken ratcheting lever, and flimsy vent clip that wouldn’t support the phone - all fresh out of the box.
