Barbie Signature Inspiring Women Ellen Ochoa Fashion Doll Collectible, Astronaut Suit & Accessories

My son has been asking for a Barbie doll for a while now and this is absolutely perfect for him. Ellen is smart, beautiful, and has an amazing career. My little one aspires to be an astronaut when he grows up and thanks to Mattel, this may officially be his new favorite toy.

She loved it so much that she did not want to open the box to play. She decided to keep it in her shelf as an inspiration. She is so protective of it that I can only think she loved it.

They need to know they can do and be anything they want if they work hard for it. There have been far too many male figures (in this instance astronauts) that get the limelight- but we need more women repetition to show girls what they can aspire to do!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the detail on this doll. The story on the back was fantastic and went so well with the Barbie. My daughter has been talking more and more about what she wants to be (almost 5yo) so having an astronaut barbie to add to her mix that has a very realistic outfit is great. The packaging is standard, my only gripe (and this is on all barbies) is the heads are put in with the little plastic clothing tag things you have to cut around their hair. Seems like overkill with all the other ways the barbie is strapped in. Otherwise I really love this barbie and look forward to a lot of imaginative play and stories.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Inspriring Women Signature Barbie Doll featuring Ellen Ochoa is truly inspiring. This Not-Your-Typical-But-Way-Overdue Barbie not only breaks stereotypes, but showcases how society has changed its viewpoint on women and specifically with young girls. My four year old daughter was excited to play with this doll because her older brother is a space fanatic, and this was a way for her to be involved in his play. Plus, with having an older brother, she is not your typical girl who loves babies, dolls, playing dress-up, etc. She loves building and anything her eight year old brother likes, so this was right up her alley. It also sparked conversation about who she was and what she did and that she was a real-life person. We not only read the facts on the box which were extremely informative, we went online and did a deep dive into who Ellen was. As far as the pieces etc., having detachable gloves, boots, helmet, made play fun. The stand was a great addition. When not in play, Ellen is standing on her bookshelf as she does deserve a separate space from her friends.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really liked the idea, especially because my son wants to be an astronaut and there was a lot I loved about the toy but some issues too. The fact that it’s a Barbie of a real person, especially a Latina female in science, was a big pro. The accessories are great, the boots, detail in the space suit, and the moveable sun shade were all impressive. I didn’t like that the hair kept the helmet from being able to sit properly and it really bothered me that the doll’s eyes were blue (when Ellen Ochoa’s eyes were brown). That may seem like an unimportant detail, but since she was the first Latina in space it seems important for representation purposes since roughly 93% of LatinX have brown eyes. I also wish there was a small bio about her someone either on the certificate of authenticity or on the packaging. Quality of the doll and accessories is great though, and I like that the doll had a STEM tie in.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Barbie came complete with all the appropriate accessories including a wearable helmet with face shields that go up or down, easily put on or off gloves, and a stand to display the doll. This doll is posable at all joints including arms, elbows, hands, legs, and knees which allows for endless movement and opportunities! If you’re collecting, the doll is perfect! If it’s for play it’s great for space loving girlies! Our only complaint is the helmet can be difficult to put on and off without messes up the dolls hair.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this awesome looking Barbie of the great astronaut Ellen Ochoa, what a great life achievement for this wonderful female to accomplish! Gave the doll to my oldest granddaughter who is 7 years old, but she refuses to take her out, she wants to keep her on her dresser and look at her everyday, eventually she will take her out! The doll is finished in a nice bright orange astronaut suit with all patches and accessories to resemble the exact suit worn by the famous Ellen Ochoa! I believe that any child would enjoy playing with this barbie for a long period of time, or display it as well!

Her flight suit is thick textured material her gloves are plastic to mimic the thick heavy ones and her helmet has solar reflection. We love her !! He her is styled just like Ellen’s in real life, they did a good job making a real woman a Barbie icon!
