[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm updating my 23-year-old kitchen..... "Out with the brass and in with the stainless." Replacing the hinges and knobs on my cabinets was a snap! I'm just wondering what the tiny little square pads are for that came with the hinges. There were no installation instructions.

Bought these to replace brass hinges on existing cabinets, so the stiles and doors were already routed to the correct specs. This should have been a simple replacement project as part of a contracted kitchen repair/remodel. 11 failed clamp screws out of 54 hinges. Unfortunately, Amerock is the only company that makes an Oil Rubbed double demountable hinge. In order to get the faulty hinges to work, I ground the retaining shoulder off on the stripped screws, enlarged the countersink on the hole a bit, and replaced them with the correct metric machine screws. The clamping plate never stripped, just the inferior bronze screws. They stripped with a two-fingered grip on the screwdriver - these weren't installed with a power driver. I would not recommend them for these reasons. OTOH, if you need a double demountable hinge, it's really the only option, at least in this finish and offset.

I purchased 21 pair of 1/2" double demountable oil rubbed bronze hinges, to replace 35 year old hinges for a kitchen remodel. These hinges are horrible. I had to either router out the cabinet face mounting slot or replace the portion of the hinge that slips into that slot with the same piece from the old hinge. The old hinge had a nipple on it that made it wider than these. NEXT problem....the portion that slips into the slot on the door is so soft that (when you try to adjust the cabinets) either the screw threads strips OR the hole on the insert hollows out and the screw won't catch. I had to replace that insert with inserts from the old hinges and/or lock washers. I'm sorry that I ever purchased these hinges. It took us two weeks of fighting with these hinges to get 21 pair installed.
