Book Synopsis
American Holidays introduces English language learners to the traditions, customs, and stories behind the holidays that shape life in the United States. Each of the twenty-three readings highlights a specific celebration-- from national observances like Independence Day and Thanksgiving to culturally significant days such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth. Through accessible readings, learners build essential holiday-related vocabulary while exploring the historical and cultural roots of each event. Every chapter integrates grammar review, comprehension questions, and discussion activities, encouraging learners to connect their own traditions with those of the United States. Designed for classroom or independent study, American Holidays develops both language proficiency and cultural understanding, helping students engage more deeply in English-speaking communities.
