About the Author

DAVID DEMSEY is Associate Professor of Music and Coorinator of Jazz Studies at William Paterson College of New Jersey. His specialties include jazz study and performance, especially the music of John Coltrane and Alec Wiilder and classical and jazz saxophone performance. He has published articles on these subjects in the Annual Review of Jazz Studies, Music Library Association Notes, and Saxophone Journal.

RONALD PRATHER is Caruth Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, where his specialties include computers in music. He has published books on aspects of mathematics and computer science. His journal publications include a study of structured musical language in Computers in the Humanities and an article on Alec Wilder's popular songs in The Musical Quarterly.
