Agri-Fab 44 In. Wide Offset Steel Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper

I bought a 42" model Agri-Fab in 1995, & it is still fully operational after 30 years but I wanted a larger capacity basket so I purchased a 44" model this fall and am super happy with it. It has the same quality and superior design that I have come to expect from this manufacturer. Highly recommended!!

This lasted less than 2 years. The plastic wheels did not last and led to complete failure. I had to get my 20 year old craftsman out to finish picking up leaves. The craftsman has a chain and sprocket that drives the brush.

Absolutely pleased with this sweeper. Relatively easy to put together.Works like a charm. Wish I had bought this years ago.

Outstanding success sweeping bushels of Southern Yellow Pine Needles. Assembly greatly facilitated by Youtube video. Dump handle is a great improvement over rope systems on my earlier sweepers.

easy to use and assemble but the basket broke the 2nd time i used it. broke at the bolts and you can tell their is fraying on the seams of the fabric. Trying to get a hold of agrifab is not easy.

I got this new 4 weeks ago and it really help with the leaves.

Have had the 44" sweeper for several years & just ordered my eighth set of wheels (at least) again. It works great for about 15-20 usages before the gears wear out. I read through the reviews of all the customers experiencing the same thing & just wonder "What is Agri-Fab thinking"? There is obviously a design problem which originates trying to runs a plastic gear against a metal gear & expect it to last. I read your responses about how the "glass filled nylon has been tested & shows it stronger than steel." If that is true then why are so many complaining about it? I am really hoping that someone at Agri-Fab will look at customer satisfaction instead of the profit margin and come up with a replacement wheel with a metal to metal construction. I doubt it will happen but I can hope!

The instructions are confusing. The quick start instructions don't agree with the full instructions and neither agree with the assembly videos. What a mess. It lasted an hour of use before the bag ripped at the attachment points due to design flaws. After a second hour of use two clevis pins fell out and a wheel hubcap fell off. The dethatcher attachment retractor clip never worked. Numerous calls to Agrifab never solved that problem, but they did send replacement parts. 3 shipments of replacement parts for 2 hours of total use. Really pathetic. I have no confidence that this thing will last a full season and I regret buying it. Fortunately, I have the skills to repair all the many faults on this equipment, but customers shouldn't have to have a fab shop to fix a new item.

I just wish there were hardware stores that sold them sold spare parts for them. I love mine. But the parts that need replaced agri-Fab doesn't make anymore. I need the whole entire, from one end to another end bottom basket frame replaced. And iv been to more hardware stores than you can possibly imagine. Any they all told me I can only buy parts off the computer.

I had this product for one week, and it fills my needs nicely. I had no problems assembling it, once I viewed their instructions on YouTube. The printed instructions leave much to be desired, and I'm glad that I did not rely on them. The sweeper is well-made and performs well at collecting clippings, leaves and twigs from my large lawn. Take your time and don't push it too hard. Good value, and made in the USA!

I just bought this sweeper and it works fantastic. I should have bought it 4 years ago. I now have a build up of thatch of which I bought the thatcher at the same time. I works so well that I need to find a good place to dump all the grass. I really dont have many trees with leaf problems in the fall, but the grass grows like crazy and I'm cutting every week if not more.

I've used this sweeper for the last seven years and couldn't be happier. When I first strarted using it I needed to add weight to the crossbar over the front, but once I did it picked up everything I threw at it. Leaves, (even Spring glop after the snow,) small pine cones and needles. I've had had a few repair/maintenance issues arise but parts and direction are readily available.

Purchased the sweeper about a month ago and really like it. The dethatcher came with it. That was a nice bonus.

I bought this sweeper to help with a heavily pine tree’s lake lot. Although not finding any good reviews on how it picks up pine needles. We have a fairly sandy lot. Not sugar sand but fine sand and dirt. The grass grows like it is a heavily shaded lot if that helps your understanding. In other words you can see dirt between the grass. This unit will not pick up every needle on the first pass. However, with a couple of helpers manually taking the pine needles away from the trees and cabin. We were able to do the entire lot in 4 hours instead of 12. Takes a few more passes to get them all. However huge time saver. Our lot has 30 pine trees, 2 birch, and 3 oaks. Make sure you keep the speeds not too fast as the gears are plastic. I never broke one in 4th gear on my John Deere lawn tractor. However, I had read where people have broke the gear that drives the sweeper. On a bad note I did lose one of the two rods that support the basket staying open on the first use. However, the other one was enough to keep it open. To save 8 hours on the spring clean up so we can actually get on the lake for fishing opener. I will redneck engineer a substitute rod, and tape in place if need be. I bought the 0492 or 44 inch lawn sweeper. Always nice to find a product that shortens the time to upkeep the lake place. Weekends up at the lake are short enough during the summer months. Thank you for reading. Regards, Jamie

Sweeper is great but needs to be more robust. Let’s start out I’m a fan of Agri fab they generally make very robust equipment. The entire unit as a whole works as intended. My issue that I’m having is the tubes that pivot for dumping grass are to thin, with any weight on the bags the tubes bend where the bolt goes through at pivot point. I feel if there was a lil more strength in this spot it would be a 5 star product! Pictures are after one use and only allowing bag to get 50%full.

Excellent sweeper. My second agrifab after 22years my 42inch having done it's job on my acre. Only complaint is the two rods which were in the previous version are terrible.. they pop out in first load. I would have thought agrifab would have a better design by now

I really can’t believe this product gets any negative reviews. I found the assembly maybe a bit challenging, only because the hardware could be identified better. It took me about 45 minutes to assemble it alone, using the instructions. When I finished the assembly, I pushed the sweeper into my back yard where my mower was and it picked up sweet gum seeds and dead grass. When I hitched it up to the mower I had one of the best experiences ever! What a great product!

It is exactly what I needed. Many pine trees dropping pine cones and it cleaned it up perfectly. Only a couple of notes to the assembly instructions. Pictures are nice, but not always enough. Also, I think you should add an optional two bolt cover over the pivot bolts for dumping. Unperfect terrain, backing or pulling forward while dumping "can" lift the bag out of the slot. I fabricated a couple of plates to secure that closure and I like it. I know that takes away from the folding storage option, but that wasn't an option I was going to utilize anyway. Totally satisfied!

Bought my first agri-fab sweeper several years ago and used it until I wore out the bag assembly. Parts falling apart after using the hell out of it then when I ordered replacements because I didn't want to go a single fall/winter without using it on my 4 acres. When I went to assemble new parts discovered the wheels on the base would only roll in reverse. I guess they rusted or something I don't know. I'm a 60 year old woman and am fixing to order my second one because even though the first is broken down and useless now I did put it through the test on my 4 acres in East Texas where there are trees galore. I just wish it held up to my level of work.
