The flameless candles offer a beautiful and realistic alternative to traditional candles, featuring a remote control and timer for convenience. Guests appreciate their elegant design and the warm glow they provide, making them perfect for various settings. However, many have encountered difficulties with the battery compartment due to a tiny screw that can be challenging to remove, leading to frustration. Overall, these candles are a lovely addition to any home decor, provided the battery access issue is resolved.

Pretty Real Wax Flameless Candles
these real wax flameless candles are great. they look nice and come with a remote that if you buy multiple sets works with all of them vs messing with multiple remotes. a lot of people complained about a screw but it was really easy to remove, i added a video of it. you do need a small screw driver, like one from an eye glass repair kit but i used a multi-tool and it worked just fine. the wax is scent less and they have a good weight to them. also the flicker is nice and subtle vs more strobe like.

Screw to battery box doesn't open
I want to buy this set but had the same problem with another set of Threshold smaller candles, where the screw attached to the sample candle wouldn't open. They just need to get rid of the sample candle idea.

Thanks for reaching out. We are sincerely sorry for the frustration you are having with removing the battery from the safety system on the candle. The screw is to make the product safer for those who might be at risk (i.e. children) to access and remove the battery. We understand that this may have presented a difficult situation when the screw is damaged when trying to remove, and we apologize for any inconvenience. The easiest way to remove the screw is with a number 0 or 1 Phillips screwdriver with a tip width of 2.5 mm to 3 mm. You want to make sure that the screwdriver has good edges and has not been stripped or worn down. Once you have opened the port and removed the button cell battery the product is safe for general household use, and the screw can be discarded as it isn't necessary for the device to function. If you are still having a difficult time removing the screw, there is a chance that the threaded hole for the screw was damaged on assembly or that there is debris in the threads. To remove it, you can try over-tightening the screw by turning it clockwise, and you should be able to feel it getting easier to turn. Then, place one finger on the latch over the door to the battery port, press in to disengage the lock and gently pry up on the door while turning the screw counterclockwise. Once the door is removed, remove the battery and dispose in accordance with local regulations. Place the battery port door on a surface that will not be damaged by the screw point. Put gentle downward force on the door and turn the screw head with the screwdriver counterclockwise, and the screw should start to back out of the threaded hole.

(no review title)
I had the same problem most reviews have described, the tiny screw for the tall candle battery compartment is impossible to remove. I found them on the auction website for a much more reasonable, so took a chance and broke off the cover to the compartment, put my batteries in, and it worked! This miserable design gets three stars because we have enjoyed them, with the timer setting, since last December and only replaced the batteries last month. I like they're made of wax and give a realistic flickering glow.

Dont buy!!! Screw in battery compartment.
Taking these back because I can’t get the screw out of the battery compartment! An enraging issue since it is simply there to hold the demo wire in place! A waste of time for these overpriced I might add candles.

Same issue as others
I wish I had read the reviews before I brought this product in store. I had the same issues as everybody else with this screw. The orher two were just fine as they had no screw. Target customer service had me contact the manufacturer, which was absolutely no help.

Why is a screw needed for a battery
Don’t bother buying. You think they would make life easier but for some reason a screw is needed on the battery face plate which is impossible to get out. I ended up breaking the candle in the process. Not worth the frustration. Stop complicating things for no reason.

Frustrating issue with battery compartment
There is a screw holding the battery compartment shut on the largest candle in this set. I have bought three sets of these but had to return two, as the screw will *not* come out.

If theres a will theres a way
Like the other reviews, the tiny screw wouldn’t come out so I pried the cover off and literally ripped it open (i don’t care because no one will see the bottom. Now I have a permanent opening to put batteries. Other than the frustration and destroying the bottom, I have three very pretty flameless candles! They look soooo nice. People say they can’t use it.. well, not with that attitude lol RIP IT!

Same complaint as the others regarding the screw for the big candle
So frustrating because I read the reviews and thought "It can't be that hard. They're exaggerating" Nope!! Screw would not come out of cover on bottom tall candle. Unusable since I could not open to put in batteries. UGH

Cant get one out of package
The ones I could get out of the package were fine, but one is screwed in (the tester) and I could not get it to unscrew no matter what size screwdriver I used. I had to throw it away with the packaging and it was a total waste.

Don't buy this product!
If it's too good to be true...welp, it must be. Because of the "Try Me" packaging the largest candle becomes completely unusable. You need to remove a tiny screw to open the battery pack. I bought 3 of these and the screw on all 3 are stripped and impossible to unscrew. The packaging is the problem here, not the quality of the product.

Can't use large candle - the set is worthless.
I was so excited to decorate for Christmas tonight using my new flameless Threshold candles. I wanted these because they don't flicker. The battery compartment for the large candle won't open because of a screw. I tried with a tiny screwdriver and the screw will not turn. Returning to the store pronto. So disappointed. I didn't think I needed to read reviews for flameless candles. Buyer beware!

Stripped screws
Bought two sets. Stripped screws on both. What an unnecessary, wasteful feature the "try me" button is. Only option now is to break the cover to the battery compartment, which isn't an option for me since I have a toddler and need to make sure batteries aren't accessible. What a waste of my time and my money. Get it together, Target.

You have to have a small screwdriver to open the bottom to put the battery in. It’s pretty crappy

Hi Brian. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review on the LED Candles. In order to be compliant with a law that was passed, we were required to quickly pivot on the design of the battery port to secure the battery for safety. We would be happy to help with instructions on removing the screw. Please reach out to us at customersupport@rimports.com for assistance.

Get rid of the "Try Me", please.
I have a lot of these candles and generally like them a lot; however, the unnecessary "Try Me" functionality is garbage. There is a tiny screw holding the battery compartment closed for the demo candle, which is always a pain to remove. For this batch, the screw was stripped so I had to break open the hatch in order to remove the cover and insert batteries. Seriously, remove the Try Me button, we all know what a lit fake candle looks like.
