Holes after two wears

I have been buying these exact socks for exactly 10 years. Yes, literally 10 years since the year 2015. They are the only socks I own and until this year I wore them almost every day. I used to buy ~2-4 new packs a year. Not too bad of a turnover rate for constant wear in boots. In the last year, they have completely changed the fabric content for the worse. These "socks" are now so thin they are almost completely transparent, and thus, completely useless. I can legitimately see my toes and skin through them when I put them on - similar to a 60-denier stocking.  I've included a photo showing the old version (~2 years old) vs. the new version (worn less than 5 times). The socks used to have a relatively high cotton content & nice weight to them. The fabric now feels distinctly synthetic and slick. Completely non-absorbent and not insulating at all. Almost all of the new socks ones have holes in them already (I have worn them less than 5 times). I tested wearing two pairs at once, and it feels comparable to the thickness of the old version.  I am an avid proponent of reducing textile waste and wearing/mending clothes for as long as I can. When these socks used to wear out, I would cut them up and use them as dust rags until they fell apart. I can't even do that anymore as this new fabric is completely non-absorbent. The "privilege" to actually wear/use items I've purchased for any extended amount of time has been taken from me as a consumer on so many levels I am at my breaking point with it. This specific change in these specific socks has been absolutely devastating for me. I am an adult with sensory issues (which is embarrassing enough as it is LOL) and there are so few textile products I can tolerate wearing regularly that when I do find a good one - I am LOYAL to them. I mean, a DECADE of regular purchasing. I know, this is such a privileged problem to have. I will, of course, be fine. In the end, these socks were the last reason I still regularly shopped at Target. I would buy many other products when I went to pick up new socks. I will now no longer shop in their stores or website for anything, ever.  Continuously making products worse while keeping the price the same (or higher) is the ultimate betrayal of consumer trust, and they have lost mine forever. I'm exhausted of product quality being consciously degraded so that the bottom line can squeeze another 0.0000000000001 cent from a loyal consumer. Furthermore, the degradation of textile quality and construction like this creates so much physical waste that it is choking the earth. The planned obsolescence of products is a blight on our society.  Natural fibers and basic/sturdy textile construction are becoming an unaffordable luxury. I will never spend my money at Target again, so please enjoy the extra 0.0000000001 cent you made from me while losing a lifelong customer.

They seemed like good quality but they all had a hole on the back of my heel after the first use.

The cuff part is tight and I’m not a big person. Cut the band off because otherwise I’d never wear them. Now they’re comfy and doing a cute slouchy thing

These socks are cheap and their quality reflects that. They all have holes after one wear. Such a waste.

Half of the socks developed holes after only 2 washes. I only wore these to my office job where I am seated all day, so it wasn't like I put them through a lot of strenuous use.

I really liked these socks up until the last few weeks. I bought these socks a few months ago and they are all already getting holes in them. I've had to throw out almost half of them. They really just aren't worth it if you plan to wear them everyday like I do. I am going to look for something with more padding on the bottom.

Way too tight! They were so uncomfortable. They dug in to my skin so much they left marks after I took them off. I don't have big legs, so no reason for such a bad fit.

Sizing was not suitable for my needs.

Really comfortable! They don’t slide down either like I have had trouble with in the past. They’re thin but still cozy.

I bought six pairs of these socks in hopes they would last me for a while. I bought them in early October, got my first hole a week or two later, and now in early January I only have two pairs left, one of them with holes. The socks are a little too tall (my fault for not verifying the measurements closely enough), they are not stretchy enough, which means they are hard to get on, and they apparently aren't very well made. I suspect the fact that they don't have enough stretch means that when I am struggling to pull them on, they are getting pulled on harder than they can handle.

These are so soft, nottoo thick!

Wore them for the first time today, socks had holes in the toe area after only a couple hours of wearing at a desk job…. I should have trusted the reviews that said they weren’t a good quality.

Great basic dress sock. The size was just right.

Comfortable and true to size. Perfect to wear with my winter boots. Not too bulky

It's hard to find black socks that don't leave a ton of black lint everywhere. These socks are great! They are a thinner material so not sure how long they will last, but very happy so far.

Loved the length and colors for fall are perfect

These are my favorite socks; I ordered more than 6 pairs a little over a year ago because I wore them more than any of my other pairs of socks. However, I've started noticing nearly all of them now have holes, some in the toes and some in the heel. I've had to throw several of these away for this reason. I've never had that happen with any other pair of socks I've owned. They're still my favorite socks; they're very comfortable and stay up all day. I just wished they were more durable.

Crew Socks fit great but wish there was a white pair included. I recommend and will purchase again.

Its so difficult to find good crew socks because everything else is ankle. These are very good
