Guess it’s relative to your shape but these worked fabulous for my daughter who has full thighs. She wears a 16 and took a chance on the 17 thinking maybe could wash and dry with extra heat and after that they were perfect.

Good for pear shapes
As a pear-shaped woman, I like these shorts as they give me enough room in the hip and thigh without being too baggy around the waist. I can see if someone carries more weight in their stomach these wouldn't fit as well. I wish they came in a dark denim wash.

Anndd.....Ava & Viv is supposed to be a curvy line ..
I genuinely love how they fit around my butt and thighs, but as like all the other reviews, it’s too tight at the waist. I really need shorts and they’re not totally uncomfy so I decided to keep them. In Ava and Viv I’m usually a 16, 17, or 18 but when I put the 18 on I was annoyed that it was a tighter fit. I’m not going to size up because being so short and thick going up a size would completely alter how I would like them to look on me

I love the style, and ordered a size up after reading reviews. However, these are NOT for curvy women. On me, the leg is loose like many have said (and I have thick thighs), but the belly is tight, leaving odd, unflattering gaping around the crotch and a very relaxed, wide leg look to the legs. The waist is so loose in the back that it bunches and doesn’t even touch my back until I move around.
