Book Synopsis
NEW stunning hardback edition showcasing the original E.H.Shepard art with Milne's classic, timeless poetry for children.
'But now I am Six, I'm as clever as clever. So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.'
E.H.Shepard's original, iconic artwork has been reproduced for this 100th anniversary range so it truely pays homage to the vividness of the original art that accompanied Milne's classic, favourite stories.
See the world through the eyes of Christopher Robin and his companion Winnie-the-Pooh in this timeless collection of verse, a treasure trove of favourite nursery poems including Us Two, Sneezles and The End.
This work by A.A.Milne includes poems for children which feature Pooh helping Christopher Robin with his schoolwork (if helping is the word). It is an evocation of childhood, through the eyes of the six-year-old Christopher Robin.
In this stunning 100th anniversary hardback edition, A.A.Milne's classic poetry is once again brought to life by E.H.Shepard's beautiful, coloured decorations. Now We Are Six is a heart-warming and funny introduction to children's poetry, offering the same sense of humour, imagination and whimsy that we've come to expect from his favourite books about Winnie-the-Pooh, that Bear of Very Little Brain.
Milne and Shepard had a unique working relationship for their time, in that they closely collaborated on the design of the storybooks and poetry. This joint approach to laying out the words and illustrations was clearly the perfect partnership; Shepard entirely captured the charm of Pooh's world, created by Milne, resulting in the gorgeous books we all know and love.
The nation's favourite teddy bear has been delighting generations of children for nearly 100 years. Milne's classic children's stories - featuring Piglet, Eeyore, Christopher Robin and, of course, Pooh himself - are gently humorous while teaching lessons about friendship and kindness.
Pooh ranks alongside other beloved character such as Paddington Bear, and Peter Rabbit as an essential part of our literary heritage. Whether you're 5 or 55, Pooh is the bear for all ages.

Some retro reviews of the original publication in the 1920s:
"I prophesy that Mr. Milne's latest book of verses, 'Now We Are Six, ' will appeal to grown-ups as much as to the public for whom it is primarily intended.", The Daily Express, 10th November 1927
"When Mr. Milne began four years ago to write verses for his small son, and, through 'Punch', had the good fortune to have them illustrated by Mr. E. H. Shepard, he little realised that within a few months five continents would be clamouring for the adventures of 'Christopher Robin' and his pets.", Sunday Express, 21st October 1928
Review Quotes
'Winnie-the-Pooh has always been a very special (albeit funny old) bear, not least of all because his books are filled with wonderful words of wisdom.', Stylist magazine
Named one of Quentin Letts' best books - The Week
'... a tome to cherish now and pass down through the generations for years to come.', The Independent
Steve Hogarty said about Winnie-the-Pooh: The Complete Collection of Stories and Poems: 'Lovingly illustrated by E.H.Shepard, the stories of Pooh and his pals are sure to delight little readers and even younger listeners, as they did me.', The Independent

A.A.Milne was born in London in 1882 and became a highly successful writer of plays, poems and novels. He based Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet and friends on the real nursery toys of his son Christopher Robin and published the first book of their adventures together in 1926.
