NOT Self-Evaporative
It took 2 hours to get the hoses hooked up, but it seemed as if it would do the job...NO!! It has to be drained every day - more if it is humid outside. For over $500.00, It should not have to be drained at all. The one I bought to replace it has been runing nonstop for 6 -8 weeks and hasn't needed to be drained at all. Returned.

We love our Whynter Eco-friendly 12000 BTU
I love the unit as it is amazing!!! My central heat and air conditioner unit went out. I am purchasing the home from my siblings as it is the home we grew up in and the unit is 30 years old. I am getting a new one but I was about to have heat exhaustion!! My girlfriend lives in New York and had it but wasn’t using it. After the $129 shipping cost it arrived. I hook it up and it is AMAZING- it cooled my living room, my kitchen and the dining room. It even had the bedrooms semi-cool. The house is 2,200 feet. I was amazed that it cooled that many square feet. They said it would cover around 480 but I am telling you it did much, much more!! The temperature in the house was around 87 degrees inside and within around 30 minutes it had cooled it down to 68 degrees. I was suspicious about how well it would work but did it ever surprise me. I will tell you how much, this is the first review I have ever written in 54 years on earth. Buy buy buy!

Iraqi vet and civil engineer knows his portableACs
Yes, I would have traded my in unit CHU (compartmentalized housing unit) AC in Iraq for this in a heartbeat. I've owned it for 3 years to supplement a rooms AC that I have found tricky to balance properly. It works as advertised, is durable, and well made. Yes, it takes time to set up if it's not a permanent solution. And yes, there the drainage can leak if you don't secure the drain hose securely. But that's the concept of portability. It's heavy though but has some wheels. Use a hand truck if you need to go long distances. If you have an electric socket or extension cord to plug into, this will work anywhere and everywhere.

Wrong description
I rated one star because the description says 500-800sqft and the a/c is actually only 400sqft

Excellent
This kept my 800 sq ft loft on the 3rd floor, comfortable during the insane 118 degree heatwave last summer in Portland. Powerful and much better than a single hose. Buy this!

Decent
Does the job of keeping the area I bought it for cool. I am disappointed that it doesn't have a eco mode. So it just keeps running even when the room's set temperature is met. Also the vents that go in the window have nothing to prevent insects from getting in it. Which here is the south is a major issue.

Hi there, Thanks for your feedback regarding your air conditioner. The air conditioner has a 5° F temperature cushion; when reaching 5° F of the set temperature, the compressor shuts off but the fan runs continuously to circulate the air in the room to maintain the set temperature and prevent the compressor from running too frequently. Also, the window screen can be left in place to prevent insects from entering the unit. At Whynter, we constantly aim to provide superior products and a better customer experience. I do not like it
I like Whynter products in general but feel ripped off with this model. 1. No adjustable air vents 2. Air vents do not electronically close or move 3. The timer is hard to use 4. In general, the digital display is not user friendly This machine really sucks

Reliable and worth the money
I have had this air conditioner for a few years. I bought it because it was recommended by Consumer Reports due to its double hose intake and exhaust feature. I am so glad I did. It cools the whole downstairs of my home. Is continually cooling with so far no condensation.

Fast Cooling Unit
Put it in the bedroom. It cools quickly and not too noisy. Will probablyput it downstairs next year where it will cool a larger space and get a smaller unit for the bedroom.

Cools very well
This item works very well it cooled my bedroom night & day no matter how hot it was outside.I live in the deep south of Mississippi & it can get really really hot. The only problem I had with this item was the draining system. Condensate water would build up quick.what I found helpful was elevating the unit, adding a hose used on a washing machine & placing the hose in a 5 gallon jug & it worked great after that.

Great but go 14000BTU
I use this in vermont for the 600SF living area, third floor of a 4 floor building, unit works fine, its not too loud, but does not seam to have to cooling power of a 1200BTU window unit, go 14000BTU and this dual hose is key. Crazy how the single hose units suck out the cool air while pulling hot air from the outside in.

Fantastic!
Excellent cold, excellent heat, plus dehumidifier and fan-only for drying clothes. The dual vent ducts are large, but good quality, not flimsy. They are essential, so plan ahead. Read manual (which could be better). Heat/cool power is impressive, our unit is in (small) room, only runs briefly before desired temp is reached. Draws about 9 amps at 125 volts, max.

Does a great job
I have a raised ranch. I keep this in my smallest bedroom, my office, facing out into the hallway. It cools that whole side of the house. I have another larger Wynther model in my dining room facing the kitchen and it cools that whole half of the house too. I chose Wynther cause it doesn't have to be drained all the time when using it on air. It does a very good job and it is a nice size nd color.

Simply Awesome
I recently purchased the Whytner dual hose 12,000 btu . If your home is hot and you don't have A/C it's a must buy!!! It's easy to assemble and it will cool you're room less than 30 mins, I highly recommend this product , it's a bit pricey but worth every penny

Good but needs some work
The more efficient the exhaust the better this thing works, for sure.
