Q: The PRIMARY reason people want battery backup is you cannot oversleep your alarm if power goes out in middle of night. Will ALARM still SOUND w/battery backup if power is disrupted?
A: Hi RK, That’s a great question, and I completely understand the concern. The primary reason most people want a battery backup is to avoid oversleeping if the power goes out overnight, so I’m happy to clarify what the “battery backup” feature means for this model. For this clock, the battery backup does not power the clock on its own the same way being plugged into the wall does. Instead, the two AAA batteries are used to maintain the time and alarm settings during a power outage, so you won’t need to reset anything once power is restored. If the power is disrupted or the clock is unplugged, the clock will appear to be off. The digital display will go dark, and the alarm will not sound. However, the internal clock continues keeping track of the time in the background using the batteries. Once the clock is plugged back in, the display will turn on again and show the correct time along with your saved alarm settings. In short, a power outage works the same way as unplugging the cord. The clock won’t visibly operate during the outage, but the batteries ensure your time and alarm settings are preserved until power returns. I hope this helps clear things up. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions, I’d be happy to help. Best regards, Nyl Holdings LLC Customer Satisfaction Team

Q: How long will the radio stay on after its turned on by the alarm?
A: Hi BigT, Thank you for reaching out. For most radio alarm clocks, the radio stays on until it’s turned off manually or until the alarm cycle ends, which is usually about an hour. If you want it to keep playing, you can just switch the radio on again after the alarm. Let me know if you have other questions. Best regards, Nyl Holdings Customer Satisfaction Team

Q: Can you wake up to the radio instead of a beeping noise?
A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out. To answer your question, yes, your Westclox Model #80209T digital clock radio can wake you up to the radio instead of a buzzer. When setting the alarm, after you've set the alarm time (steps #1 and #2 in the "ALARM SETTING" section), press the same ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 button again to select either RADIO or BUZZER. Q: How come the radio stations don't come in clear. Only 1 is fuzzy
A: Hi Donuts, Thank you for reaching out. If most stations come in clear except for one that sounds fuzzy, it’s usually due to a weak or inconsistent signal in your area rather than a problem with the clock itself. Here are a few things you can try to improve reception: 1. Reposition the clock – Try placing it closer to a window or away from walls, large metal objects, or other electronics that might cause interference. 2. Rotate the clock slightly – The internal FM receiver can sometimes pick up better signals depending on orientation. 3. Check the power adapter connection – A loose or unseated adapter can sometimes affect reception quality. If only one specific station remains unclear, it’s likely due to the signal strength of that particular station in your location. Please let me know if the issue persists after trying these steps. Q: Does the radio work when the electric power goes out, does it get radio reception with battery power only, or does the battery just keep the alarm clock on?
A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out. The radio on your Westclox Model 80209 does require electric power to operate, so it will not play or receive stations if the power goes out. The battery backup is designed only to keep the time and alarm settings saved during an outage. Once power is restored, the display will turn back on, and your settings will still be there. Q: Can you program it to turn off on weekends?
A: Hi J, Thank you for reaching out, and thank you as well for your interest in our Westclox 80209. To answer your question, this model does not have an automatic feature that disables the alarm on weekends. If the alarm is set, it will go off as scheduled. If no one turns it off manually, it will continue ringing for about an hour before eventually stopping on its own. Please let me know if you’d like any additional details—I’ll be glad to help!
