Book Synopsis
If you like Karin Slaughter and Mo Hayder's often gritty, violent, graphic Thrillers, then Mersaidee Soules' Debut Psychological Thriller, Viola Ted, might interest you!
Set in the 90s, Viola Ted has an atmospheric, character-driven style, reminiscent of Twin Peaks but without the supernatural. This story follows a complex, fast-paced, deeply traumatized individual, similar to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, minus law enforcement.
Following a second suspicious death in her low-income community, Viola Ted's coming-of-age is cut short in her small town when she's kidnapped by a serial killer who is searching for a missing book. Navigating lies and physical attacks, without a way out, Viola attempts to play his sinister cat-and-mouse games to stay alive. When she finds the book, she uncovers a terrible secret involving deceit and a conspiracy that dates back six hundred years.
To save herself, Viola may have to destroy her family. But can she?
Review Quotes
Mersaidee is a gifted writer. This is a remarkably imaginative work. She has tasked herself with creating a hidden world within our known world.
Her vulnerable protagonist confronts the most daunting and adverse circumstances imaginable but remains unbroken. Viola's voice is compelling
throughout the book. We are always rooting for her.

You won't see the twists coming. I almost threw the book in shock, but I had to keep reading!

WOW! Mersaidee is an incredible storyteller. A darkness in humanity is exposed in an intriguing and complex story. It's a page-turner. Get Ready!
-Claire Kiser, mother of three
Viola Ted embodies the truth-telling characteristics of many of Karen Slaughter's domestic noir thrillers that I love. The suspense in Viola Ted kept me turning those pages with its gut-punch, fast-paced, raw, emotional storytelling, revealing the lengths people will go through to keep their secrets hidden. I connected with her beginning story. Bring on book two, please!
-Miss.G, mother of two
As I attempt not to give away any plot twists, which blew my mind! I was on the journey with Viola from chapter one. I had to know why her mom set up these rules for Viola in the first place. The death of people she loves and the trauma of her situation are sadly what too many of us can secretly identify with. Her story demonstrated her resilience to me in this unimaginable horror story that she and her mother lived through. I am a Viola Ted fan! I am ready for the next book in this saga! I'm in the van!
