Gambling is Risky
The trick to gambling is to not lose more than you can afford! Heloise Marlow’s sister-in-law, Julia, finds this out the hard way when she loses her employer’s rubies in a rigged game. In steps the Wimpole Street Widows Society to the rescue, of which Heloise is a member. Heloise decides she needs to seduce Ethan Sinclair, one of the owners of the Dionysus gaming club, to gain access to the non-public areas of the club to find the jewels. Heloise and Ethan don’t trust each other, but there are sparks! Christina Britton’s first installment of the Wimpole Street Widows Society, “To Heist and To Hold”, is an enemies to lovers themed Regency romance that is a bit spicy. The description of life in the Regency era feels accurate. I think that the conclusion is too strung out. In my opinion, the book would be better served if the last two chapters were condensed and combined. I like the independence that these women have. The Wimpole Street Widows Society seems a bit far fetched, but I do like the concept. I look forward to seeing further development of the Widows Society in future books. Anyone who likes mildly spicy Regency romances with a bit of a twist will enjoy this book. I wish to thank Forever of the Grand Central Publishing Group for the complementary eARC of this book and for selecting me to review it on NetGalley.
