I love this series. I’m excited to gift it this Christmas! The hard back is beautiful. It arrived in perfect condition. My only comment for the publisher is the that the font is very small in these books.

Magical ending

Wow what an ending…this book definitely has a hunger games but with vampires and it’s soo good. I highly recommend this read. Already on the second book and can’t wait to preorder the 3rd.

- A heart-wrenching romance, dark magic, and bloodthirsty intrigue. Just finished reading this book (took me 6 days), and I couldn’t put it down. I’m new to reading so usually it’s hard for me to find a book that I genuinely enjoyed reading, but I really enjoyed how the author wrote so much that the storyline instantly pulled me in. It’s a slow burn but the two steamy (🥵) chapters make the wait worth it. I can hardly wait to continue the story in the upcoming book! *I recommend buying in store or pickup, so the book isn’t damaged through shipping. *SPOILER: Oraya better not betray her man or imma be very upset lol

Unexpected Favorite!

Excellent plot, good world-building. This book touches on many themes in-depth, including but not limited to discrimination, morality, cognitive dissonance, ableism, and many more. It’s clear Broadbent had a clear vision, and I think that she did a fantastic job of executing it. I can’t wait to read the next book!

Delightfully violent, fantastical, and smutty

Delightfully violent, fantastical, and smutty. Carissa Broadbent did a great job of mixing horror, action, fantasy, and romance. A good book, especially when it has fantasy/paranormal/sci-fi elements (vampires, aliens, etc.) needs to feel realistic both in plot and characterization. A Battle Royal/Hunger Games style competition with a human and a vampire as its central characters could end up very silly and unbelievable, but it manages to feel authentic. Orya’s character is intriguing, her motivations are understandable, and her arc is engaging and believable. Her developing relationship with Rhain feels authentic and is a good mix of spicy and emotionally resonant. I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and read the sequel immediately after finishing.
