Book Synopsis
An inspiring story of a community uniting to offer friendship, support, and new opportunities to a displaced family and their beloved steamboat.
Toot, toot! The Little Red Steamer happily puffs around the island, taking its passengers to and fro to do very important things. She takes the children to school and the people to work, where they build and mend and help others. Everyone loves the Little Red Steamer! When a sudden storm sets her adrift in the sea, it'll take a whole community to rescue her. But the Little Red Steamer is a lot worse for wear, and many helpers will have to pitch in to put her back together again.
Review Quotes
Maland's strong black lines work well in conveying the peril of the Little Red Steamer amid the swirling waves, and his text supports the tension. . . . A satisfying adventure for boat devotees.
--Kirkus Reviews
With digitally colored pen and pencil art that's reminiscent of linocut prints, Maland (We Light Up the Sky with Music!) captures the rhythmic flow of both water and daily life. . . .
