Surprises Galore and a Sweet Romance
I used to say that I really didn’t like cowboy romance stories. Now, with the Bachelor Cowboys series by Lisa Childs, I have changed my mind and highly recommend these books. The latest book takes place in Willow Creek where Liam Lemmon discovers an infant in his barn. The plot thickens when he also finds out that the birth certificate has his name on it. What a surprise! I really enjoyed how the story took off like a rocket ship after that, with Liam bonding with baby Lucy and willing to fight to keep her, in spite of the fact that he is certain that he cannot be the biological father. The nemesis that may upend his plan is a CPS investigator named Elise Shaw. Elise is doing her job to the best of her ability, but separating this baby from the man who obviously loves her creates a real dilemma for her. I really enjoyed how the family rallies around Liam, all of them offering suggestions on what he should do. Of course, I loved the recurring characters of Sadie, the matchmaking grandma, and her husband Lem. They offer love and wisdom as well as humor to the story. The plot is appropriately paced for the story, letting me get to know all of the characters and what their backstory is before moving into the conflict with what to do with baby Lucy. The characters are all compelling, especially Liam whose heart is in the right place and who tries hard to keep everyone’s approval. The romance is sweet, although not unexpected, but it does include some surprises and a few tears as well. This book is part of a series, but it can definitely be read and enjoyed as a standalone. I have loved every book in the series and feel as though the characters are beloved friends. Disclaimer: I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book.
