Just a bunch of hype
There's no actual basis to this concept. The love languages are just basic needs everyone has. Go with another book that has a psychological evidence basis because this isn't it.

Lives up to the Hype
It's an easy read book that encourages you to look at your relationships and how to strengthen them. Although it looks like it is just for couples, there are principles in there you can apply to your family and friends. It surprised me as I became more self aware of what makes me feel loved and how others have shown me love- based off of their love language- that I had not noticed. It's worth a read.

Someone suggested I read this book years ago. I just got around to it and man, this would have been a great one to read a long time ago. I think we do a good job communicating, but this helped to clearly identify and simplify what we've been trying to express to one another. I would have appreciated more real life examples particularly from couples who are not at each other's throats but need a little help identifying and expressing their needs to their partner.
