Therefore, if you have 1,000 square feet of wood floors, one pad would not be sufficient to clean the entire area effectively. I have owned the basic swiffer for several years and it does and good job on my hardwood floors, but this model is much better. If you're noticing a film on your floors, this could be because the product is not suitable for the type of floor you have. Do not use Swiffer PowerMop on unfinished, oiled, or waxed wooden floors, non-sealed tiles, or carpets. If your floor is brand new, it may have a special coating to protect it during shipping, and this can cause streaking. If this is the case, using the product a few more times should solve the problem. Streaking and cloudiness can also happen if other cleaning products have been used on the floor recently.
