Try it sublingually or bucally
It's not very effective just swallowed, but I find that if I open one capsule and dump it under the tongue and one between the cheek and gum, it's absorbed much more efficiently and they GABA agonism is among the best natural supplements for anxiety. Significant relaxation and helps a lot with social anxiety and socializing. Be warned that too much time under the tongue or against the gums can have the same effect as acidic candy or hot food.

Label and webpage information contradict each other
The label on this very page states, "Magnolia Extract (Magnolia officinalis) (bark) (standardized to minimum 90% honokiol + magnolol)", however the bullet point \at the top of the page states something different, "Standardized to minimum 90% honokiol". Can't be both. It's a great product but Swanson should get their act together with website accuracy, FTC expects no less..

Take this before going to bed!
The first time I tried this product, I took it in the morning, and it made me extremely sleepy! I would suggest taking it at bedtime. It has a very calming and relaxing affect, and I think it would be helpful for promoting sleep. So take it at night, and do not try and drive afterwards! This is a great product, and it works very well.

Didn't work
Of course with Swanson I received it in a timely manner and paid a low price for it. The problem is it didn't work. I bought it because someone on the Dr. Oz show said it can be used for help with sleeping.. It didn't work for my mother or my husband.

High potency extract
I'd compare the effect of this to melatonin, except you have a choice whether to sleep and there's no residual grogginess on waking. Other magnolia extracts I've tried are standardized to honokiol + magnolol for a similar price. Magnolol is a less active isomer requiring a higher dose for the same effect. As the descriptions states, purified honokiol is available from practitioners but at a much higher price. It would be nice if they sold bigger bottles, but it's hard to complain when the little bottle of 30 is still considerably cheaper per capsule than I've found elsewhere.
