A metal ladder sounds good but......

This ladder did not come with all of the required hardware to install it. I had to purchase nuts and bolts to not only finish putting it together but to attach it to my deck. Edges of the metal are left sharp. There are plastic caps to cover sharp metal edges but still.....how long before the sharp metal cuts through the plastic caps and then how long before the metal cuts my pool liner?
