Cool looking but not as sturdy as I hoped and rusting after
Just thought I'd help anyone looking for a sink like this. It should be noted, I bought this sink with the dimensions 20" x 47" x 37"but can't find the exact one of the site anymore. However, this one looks exactly the same as the one I bought with same features etc. Unfortuately within three weeks, ours began to rust. We had it covered and on a brand new deck after our last florida hurricane so the space was refinished with all new water lines. I have only used it to wash my hands after gardening and have actually never used any cleaning product on it as it is tucked away off our laundry room and is a tertiary sink. I have never used any sort of cloth, sponge or anything on it as like I said, I think I only turned on the spigot maybe five times (since my professional installation). It is already rusting in at least five spots. When I asked for a refund (granted this is not an expensive sink so it's really not about the money but the product) or exchange as per the company's warranty banner on this site, they sent this reply. So just fyi, buyer do beware. This is not a durable product and could well rust pretty soon if installed outside. Below is a segment of letter I received back from customer service. I'm only hoping to help anyone looking for a utility sink to help your informed decisions. see the photos below, small rusty spots growing especially around faucet. I believe before long ours will be very rusty, and frankly, pretty junky looking. I would like to clarify that while stainless steel is highly resistant to rust, it is not entirely rust-proof. The protective oxide layer (chromium oxide film) can be damaged if scratched by hard objects, cleaned with steel wool, or impacted by sharp items, which exposes the underlying metal and may cause rusting. Prolonged exposure to strong acids (such as toilet cleaners), strong alkalis (such as drain cleaners), or salt (such as seawater or food residues) can also corrode the surface. 1.Given that the rust on your sink appears to be mild, I recommend the following methods for removal: Soak the rust spots with white vinegar, then sprinkle a small amount of baking soda to form a paste. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then gently wipe with a soft cloth and rinse with clean water.
