Handy remote for people who like big buttons
This is a large-button Spectrum remote for people with either bad eyesight or some other issue with pressing the small keys on the supplied Spectrum remote (big fingers, muscular control, etc.). It worked right out of the box with the Spectrum cable box, but it had to be programmed to deal with the TV. The instructions were not quite right for programming the TV. You will need to enter the TV code while pressing the "TV" button. If you release the "TV" button after it comes on (per the instructions), the light will go out and the code doesn't work. The auto-setup for the TV did not work for me, either. But after about 15 minutes of fiddling with it, using different permutations, I got it to work by entering one of the many codes while pressing on the TV button. It seems to be a good remote. I got it for an elderly relative and he seems to like it. It is easier to use for him than the standard remote and it is quite reasonably priced. Actually, I think it is easier for anyone to use than the standard remote that Spectrum provide, which has many small buttons that are typically seldom used. There was no DVD player, so I did not have to program that. I am knocking a star for the incorrect instructions and the inability to auto-program. I will say, though, that the instructions were very easy to read. But I think someone should have proofread the instructions carefully and tested the device for instruction accuracy. Granted, the TV is an old one (well over 10 years old), so the instructions may work better for newer models.
