Q: Is this suitable for leaving on the concrete porch floor and does it have the ability to throw enough warmth when in close proximity?
A: The Mesa XL is safe to use on a concrete surface. In terms of heat output, it produces a minimum of about 3,000 BTUs. It’s designed for a small, cozy fire, so while it does put off some warmth, it’s not meant to be a primary heat source. If you’re looking for more focused, centralized heat, we recommend using the Heat Deflector.

Q: what brand /type of wood or pellets work best for this item?
A: Hello! The perfect smokeless flame requires quality, dry fuel. Kiln-dried hardwoods such as oak, or maple have a low moisture content, so they’ll burn at a higher temperature and give your flames a smooth secondary burn effect. Any pellets for the most part will work. We also sell some on the Solo Stove website: https://solostove.com/en-us/p/premium-wood-fuel-pellets.
