I like the vented mesh portion because it helps with dispersing the body heat heats trap. I like the adjustment strap in the hat band. I like the pony tail port because it keeps the hair OFF my neck. Pony tail largely covers visible portion of the adjustable strap. It has the chinstrap, if you've ever had you hat blow away into traffic, you know what I'm talking about! The adjustment strap also helps the hat stay on, as does having my pony tail through the port. The chin strap helps keep wind from stealing the hat backwards, the pony tail helps keep it on when the wind come from the other direction. Finally a functional use for my hair! Time will tell how well the Solaris hat's chin strap is attached. My last hat was from Mission and the strap broke on one side way too easily out of no where. I kept the other end zipped in a pocket or pinned to my shirt for a time, until the other side snapped. Without a strap, the wind stole my Mission hat during a storm in Washington DC. By the time I got my umbrella sorted when the wind turned that inside out, the Mission hat was nowhere to be found. I like this hat better than I did that hat, and the price is better, too.
